Hey guys. I’m in the process of building a 10/22 for my son and had a few questions about the Crazy Ivan chassis. Honestly I’d like to use one of the Titan stocks but the length of pull is just too long. I need something that I can put an adjustable AR style stock on so it can grow with him. He will be using this for NRL22 matches so it needs to be reasonably accurate. I’m building it using all Kidd parts so I don’t think that will be an issue. My one big concern is with the chassis. The scope mounts to the chassis and not directly on the top of the receiver. I wonder if that will cause issues with the rifle keeping an accurate zero. I may be worried about nothing but it just doesn’t seem like the best way to mount the optic. Here are some photos so you can see how the chassis works for those who haven’t seen it or used one.

That system, the crazy Ivan is going to add a fair bit of height to the scope over Bore height. Something I have found an issue with young/small/not adult size shooters. You are going to need to build up the cheek weld a lot! This can then have effect on where the butt ends up and it could be too low.
Also in your build, look at the distance of the trigger to grip. Generally it is waaay to big of a gap for most small hands.
Look at the geometry of the entire system not just length of pull.
Just telling of some of my past issues with my experiences.
Whatever you do get them out shooting make it super fun!

I noticed that it added about 1/2” to the mounting height of the optic but I don’t think that should be an issue. It ends up being almost identical to the mounting position of an AR15 if you lay photos on top of one anothe. I have several chassis rifles he shoots that use AR furniture. As long as the stock is collapsed he is fine. He also shoots my AR15s without any issues. Right now he has a stock 10/22 that I cut about 3” of the stock off. It is the perfect size but the accuracy is crap. I told him when he could shoot better than the rifle was capable of I would build him a rifle. It is the same deal I made with his older brother. He has been shooting really well so it is time. The stock 10/22 really isn’t suited for the NRL22 matches either.

The Crazy Ivan chassis is very nice if you want to use AR style hardware/furniture, I was fortunate enough to test it in the early stages and have played with some of his other products. I don’t think you have anything to worry about with mounting a scope. Chassis seems to be a solid platform, Crazy Ivan also has a couple YouTube videos with some ammo testing too.

I also like the the modularity of the Accurate Rifle Systems, but I don’t think the LOP will be short enough for you.

If you're set on using AR handguards, go with the Crazy Ivan. I have a couple PMACAs and they are fantastic little chassis' that I use with my kids. Can't go wrong with either in my opinion.

Eoddave, let me know what you think of the Crazy Ivan setup. I am going to start putting one together myself, but I have to start from square one. I will probably use Luth-AR handguard, buttstock and chubby grip.

Just got my chassis today!
