Hey guys,

A friend of mine has a cheytac intervention, and the muzzle brake on it is incredible. Does anyone know if that brake is available for an AR-15? And who makes it/how much would it be?
Additionally are there any other brakes out there that are great at keeping muzzle rise down & reducing recoil substantially?

An AR15 has recoil?

Re: crazy muzzle brake

Maybe I'm just stupid, but honestly what purpose would a brake on an AR have other than to just annoy people at the range? I can understand a .338RUM or .338LM bolt gun, but a 5.56mm gas gun?

No, AR's don't have a lot of recoil but they do have some. The comps/brakes take out what little recoil there is and reduces the minimal muzzle climb. These types of comps are scored by hits and time.

Less recoil(should)=Faster time better finish.

edit: OP, I'm not familiar with the brake you're talking about. My 3Gun rifle has a brake by SAW Custom. It's louder than hell but does keep the rifle flat.

Re: crazy muzzle brake

Wear a heavier shirt that should take care of all the rest of the recoil.
The brake is the EDM fish gill brake that was taken from Serbu if I am not mistaken. You may try Serbu and see if they make one for that small of a caliber.

Don't laugh, I was at on of Zak Smith's Multi Gun matches. I said the same thing,................until I watched him shoot it with the supressor.........you'd be supprised at the differance. Smooth, the barrel didnt move a smidgen no matter how fast he shot.

I was impressed, I dont have them on my ARs but they are High Power Rifles, where brakes and supressors aren't allowed.

But dont kid you self, they work.

You would have to own one to know.....
We are talking about AR15's that shoot 5.56 rifle rounds, not airsoft pellets.
