Credit Card Co's that report to the Feds ?

A while back there was a big ruckus about CC Co.s reporting purchases to the Feds. I think I remember the reporting was on firearms. Never did get the truth whether the CC Co's were reporting purchases from stores like Mid South, Natchez , Midway, ect.
Anyone know what the outcome of this was ?

There is nothing financial that is done electronically that the feds don't know or can't find out about.

The Feds might not have a live real time feed from the financial institutions but if they have any reason to ask the banks are going to fall all over themselves to provide everything the Feds ask for and then some.
