Creedmore or 260 in a AR10?

With the heavier bullets needing to be loaded to longer lengths in the Remington 260, is it a better idea to go with a 6.5 Creedmore? I have a Mega MaTen and a Bartlein 6.5 barrel blank and am in a quandry as to which direction to go. I am concerned the Dpms/Pmags won't allow the longer coal (pmags are like 2.80, and Dpms like 2.85) to get the full potential out of the heavier bullets. I've also heard of the Creedmore not being reliable due to feed angles in an AR10 platform. Then again, mayble it's just a better idea to leave the Mega .308, and build a bolt gun in 260 lol. looking for some input. Thanks!

If it was my choice, I would go with the .260 Remington. I'm kinda considering these options also, but between 7.62 and .260 My next 2 rifles will be a GAP 10 and a TRG 22. (if I can find one) I prefer to keep them in the same cailber instead of having alot of different rifles with different calibers. While there's nothing wrong with that, I just want to simplify and be able to shoot both rifles the same day with the same ammo.

Here's your answer and I've had both. Go Creedmoor.

The mag issue is BS. In my 260 I shot 139gn Scenars to 2800 with a 22" barrel.

Wherever you "heard" the 6.5CM not being reliable due to feed angles was full of shit and didn't know what they were talking about. I've shot my 6.5 Gap10 and 3 major comps, a bunch of small ones and many practice sessions and the ammo was never a cause for bad feeding.

One thing to remember with either platform is the AR is going to chew brass up bad so unless you're going to run Rem brass for a 260, it's going to get expensive.

the problem with both the 6.5 and .260 in a gasser is not that they won't feed reliably,it's that the bullet tip pounds the barrel extension before chambering.you can modify the mags(not mapuls) and the bottom of the barrel just below the chamber,if not your bullet tips WILL hit.other than that i would go with 6.5 in gas gun,260's are longer and better fit for bolt guns with longer bullets.i personally have 6.5 creedmoor gasser,when it's shot out i will go with 7 creedmoor.

Creedmor sounds like the way to go. I've heard how to mod the mags, but what do you need to do to the barrel extension? I'd assume you need to make the feed angle shallower so you don't ram the bullet tips into the extension.

I built a 6.5 CM. I reload and COAL was a consideration and a big reason to go with the 6.5 over the 260. I have never had one feed issue. My brass looks good and I already have about 2 reloads on the brass. My points aren't being damaged by my barrel extension. I am shooting pmags that have had no modifications.

I have a gasser in 6.5 CM and run with P-Mags. I have never had a single FTF malfunction. Rather I had problems with this when it was a 308. As for the brass issue. I notice my brass does get scratched up as do my bullets. However I have never seen a single deformed bullet not have I noticed any negative effects on the life of the brass.

I have had zero, nada, zip, zilch issues with my DPMS 6.5 Creedmore and I would say it is one of the most accurate rifles I own. Can't wait to shoot it at 1,000 yards, I haven't been to the long long range in a while.

Whomever told you there were problems, I haven't seen a single one, and to be honest, wouldn't they manifest with the cheapest rifle out there?

Yeah, seems like if it were a major problem you would definitely hear much more about it with the Creedmor. I may very well end up with a 260 bolt gun, and Creedmor gasser. I need to talk to Hateca, if he's still around, and see if he's taking work and get a bolt gun build going. It's good to have reputable smith local.
