Who knew Krieger had a button rifling division? Seems that Jim Briggs at Northland Shooters Supply, at SavageShooter.com, will be offering another Savage pre-fit option.

From SavageShooters quote http://savageshooters.com/SavageForum/index.php/topic,36262.0.html

"Northland Shooters Supply is officially announcing the launch of their sales with Criterion Barrels. Criterion Barrels, the button rifling division of Krieger Barrels, has assigned NSS as their retail outlet for the purchase of the Criterion Button Rifled Barrels. All of our initial stocking inventory will be a Stainless (Hand Lapped) Match Grade Savage Pre-Fit.

I have two pre-production Stainless Match Grade Barrels in the field now. Both have been placed with local 1000 yard shooters. Initial feedback is showing groups in the .3 and below range as easily attainable with quality reloads. The comment "these barrels are real shooters" was mentioned as well as "excellent quality".

I will be offering the Criterion Barrels in both Savage Small and Large Shanks and in the Heavy Sporter, Varmint and Bull Barrel Contours. Criterion will custom chamber your barrels using your reamers if you prefer to have them chambered to your exact specifications.

Our initial pricing will be $250 for all 26", $270.00 for all 28" and $290.00 for all 30" Barrels lengths. Chrome Moly Barrels are available on request. Chrome Moly Barrels are sold "In The White"

Re: Criterion barrels by Krieger - Savage Pre-fits

WOW! This is a great deal. Although cut rifling has overtaken button rifling, There isn't enough of an accuracy difference (if any in most cases) to steer away from this price. I will highly consider these with my next build. Do you know if there is interest in making some LA calibers like 300WM or possibly 338 EDGE?

Re: Criterion barrels by Krieger - Savage Pre-fits

if you read his release, jim has made a stocking order. he will have these on hand in his shop ready to ship if i read his release correctly

Re: Criterion barrels by Krieger - Savage Pre-fits

Interesting...

I wonder if they'll be stocking any shorter barrels in the future. 26" is quite a bit long for my tastes. Especially for some of those calibers...

Re: Criterion barrels by Krieger - Savage Pre-fits

in the past i have noticed he just orders them long. they can always be cut and recrowned at a shorter length. which i think he can do in the shop. give him a call

Hmm, I might have to give that a shot. I've got a Stevens 200 action with a .223 bolt face laying around here somewhere that I've been thinking about basing a build on for a while now...

No 1/7 .223 which is a bit silly

Takes them out of the long range .223 market.
