Hey! What's up.
The soft cover is the shit. I wish I'd known about it before dropping $1k on a Crye helmet I never use, and REALLY wish it had come out when I was in the army! As for the mounts, I like the lighter stuff. Whatever mount you're using now is fine (I'm guessing you have some sort of dovetail Wilcox?). For the shroud, I'd get the Wilcox polymer one that has metal inserts for $60 or so (just make sure it's compatible with your mount, should be but a call to TNVC prior to ordering to clear up any compatibility issues). No need for all metal, it works great on the soft cap and keeps weight down. I also put a battery storage case on the back mostly for counterweight (but having extra C123's and AA's are nice too). Then I tie a couple of bowlines on a piece of gutted 550, one end with a metal clip (like the ones on Surefire lights) and the other tied to the shroud, total about 6" long or so. That's my tie down to clip on the ring on my 14's, no reason to spend $100 on one (I have one of those too and trust me, the 550 cord DIY is more secure, and isn't that the whole reason?).
There are some new "skullcrushers" and they look more comfortable than the legacy one for sure, but they're expensive and not really necessary to support the weight of a PVS14. Now if you had a heavy dual tube setup or some such, I could see a use for 'em. But the Crye cap folds up and fits in your pocket and it's like wearing a baseball cap with a chinstrap and a PVS14 instead of a bill. Super comfortable and simple. TNVC squared me away on mine, they've always done me right.
I also have the Larue compact QD PVS14 low mount and the EoTech/PVS14 Larue QD mount. It allows you to keep the QD mount on the 14 without it getting in the way when head mounted like most others, and it lines it up perfectly right behind the EoTech. It also co-witnesses the iron sights.
It's this part, the LT110 (retails $135)
And this part, the LT133 which goes with the LT110 (retails $162)
This is made for an EoTech and works best with them, but I learned that any dot optic with a zero co-witness setup will line up. Only reason I'm selling it is because I bought it for my wife to use, and we got divorced about a year ago so I don't really need it. I have a PVS30 for that anyway. It's been mounted once but never really used. Basically like new. $297 + tax and shipping new, I'll let it go for $210 shipped Priority. How's that sound, 30% off? So not $500 and dedicated to your gear. PM me if interested and I can take some pictures of the actual parts if you like. I can also take a picture of my Crye cap too so you can see how I set it up.
