Just picked one up. First impressions are very high. Several great features, easy to operate and set up. It goes out in the AM on a hot trail.

Photo download to a USB/Flash Drive with automatic pic removale from the SD card once the down load is complete.

Re: Cuddeback Attack IR Digital

I set one out at a feeder a couple months ago. The set up is 100 times better than the first cudde back I bought four years ago. It takes great day pic and pretty good night pics. I ran the video option for the first couple weeks and then turned it off. It won't take night vids that can be seen. The only other negative I have is, I can see the IR flash when it triggers. I get less spooked pics with a light flash than I do with an IR flash. I think the animals think the red lights may be eyes looking at them and that the white light is non threatening. They don't know that the white flash isn't lightning or something. I'll post some pics from mine too and compare. Over all I think it will give great service and would be an excellent camera to use to catch a thief.

Mine has been out through a couple 2inch rains and some fog. What are you leading too in your statement?

A lot of the newer models have leaking issues. There has been quite a few bad reviews out there just beacuse of this issue. Pickpick is yours an older model or was it made within the last 2 years?

Re: Cuddeback Attack IR Digital

I have an older IR. You could not pay me and give me another. Nothing but problems - although - I can not speak to the new models. I just know that that company will never get another penny of my money.

I bought it the last week of august this year.

Re: Cuddeback Attack IR Digital

I was debating on getting one of these. I have read the reviews and for the most part this camera seems to be pretty awesome. The deal breaker for me however was the fact that they didn't offer a black flash model and from what I hear the "red blob" cams (regular IR) tend to spook game once they catch a glimpse of it.

Went with a Bushnell Trophy cam (black flash) instead and have had no issues so far.

Re: Cuddeback Attack IR Digital

I had one a couple of years ago (IR but can't remember the model). I returned it. I'm not sure if they've improved them but I used mine for work and thought it was to complicated, and I was unable to view a image in the field even with the available viewers at the time. Customer Service ranged from nonexistent to sending me to Walmart for viewers that they didn't even carry. I thought it was gimmicky but not for me as a field tool.

Images were fine but hey, for a 600.00 camera, it should be able to take a picture. I didn't need a fancy camera to show me what a critter looks like. What I needed was a field tool that I could grab, easily set up without having to read an instruction manual and give me an image that I can see right there and make a decision based upon that information - in the field.

That camera wasted a lot of my valuable time. Judging from their marketing, they know who their customers are.

Re: Cuddeback Attack IR Digital

I know which model you're talking about Mike, my buddy used to have one and they sucked for the price. They've come along way in the last few years. I think if you got one of the newer models you'd be pretty impressed. I'll post a few photos in the other game camera thread on the front page when I get some time.

Re: Cuddeback Attack IR Digital

I was in Cabelas the other day and wandered through the trail cam section. Cuddebacks were about $230.00. That's a pretty good price and in line with what other are going for. I talked to the guy that set up all the displays and he had to set up most of the models to take pics. He didn't think they were particularly complicated. I wouldn't discourage anyone from buying one but I'm just a little shy from my first experience.

I haven't had a problem (that I have noticed) with my "red blob" Bushnell Trophy cam spooking bucks but would rather have the black flash model.

I hear good things about the new Cuddebacks.

Here is a review of the camera I have tried over the last 5 months, thought it might help anyone on the fence or looking for another option to compare.

Bushnell Trophy Cam

-Fits in your pants cargo pocket (in a ziplock for me)
-Good batteries last forever (longest so far was over 3 weeks and about 600 high def pics)
-Pictures are plenty clear
-shows time/temp/date/moon phase
-fast trigger
-has a long range and adjustable sensitivity
-easy setup
-Does not spook Whitetail (as far as I have witnessed) no flash and no loud click
-Been in the woods non stop/5 months and has no moisture damage

Mine has taken repeated pictures of spooky, mature Southeastern Whitetails (lots of loud or regular flash cams do not)

Once you've set the date, time between shots, mode (really easy) and you are in the woods, you just flip it on, hit setup twice and its ready to take pics.

I got mine on sale about 6 months ago for $140 at Walmart
-------------------------------------------------

I've used Stealth, Wild Game Innovations, older Leaf River, Moultrie and older Cuddebacks and had problems with all of them.

They all had a problem or a mix of them, the main problems were:

-moisture damage to LCD screen
-slow trigger
-short range
-terrible battery life
-hugeness
-grainy pics
-blurry motion pics even in daylight
-Loud shutter
-some had regular flash-spooks some animals

This is the one I have

Bushnell Trophy Cam- Brown 8.0

I would like to try this one

Bushnell HD with color viewer

Overall the little camera has been great. I will stick with Bushnell's new line until I have good reason to change.

Re: Cuddeback Attack IR Digital

I have 6 of these units bought over a 4 month period starting in June of this year, and to say the least they are a pain in the ass... All of them have gone back for the same reason, Blacked out night photos. After they are sent in and fixed they seem to be fine, but beware of these issues before you purchase one. Have a buddy who has 2 more and same issue. Other than that they arent bad cameras.

Re: Cuddeback Attack IR Digital

Redirt,

Last week the Brown truck came by and dropped off another Bushnell. This is my 2nd one and this time I opted for the one with the color viewer, black flash of course. Just set it out yesterday so we'll see what happens.

If its anything like my other Trophy cam, I'm sure I won't be disappointed. Seems like you can't go wrong with these and if you pick them up at Cabela's you're gonna get a 35 dollar mail in rebate.

If you ever want to do the research Chasing Game.com is an awesome website much like this one where there is a TON of unbiased information/reviews from people that use these things way more then I ever will.

IIRC a member of this site pointed me in their direction.
