Looking to put together a new western hunting rifle and I’m trying to save a little weight over some of my current rifles. Primarily looking at the anTi X and Nanook, but open to other options. If you have experience with those or any other lightweight option I’d love to hear your opinions.

What I’m struggling to do is compare the weight to my other actions (I have 4 built of Zermatt Origins) and there seems to be a lot of variance on listed weights for the Origin. I see it listed at 28oz on some sites, 31oz on others, I even saw it listed at 50oz on one website which doesn’t seem right. The only thing I can think of is maybe some of those weights are without the rail and lug and other weights include those. If anyone could give me their own measured weight including the rail and lug I’d really appreciate it.

I know this isn’t terribly important because I’m saving weight either way, I’m just trying to get a comparison to see how much weight I’ll save vs the money invested into a completely new rifle. I just see the listed weight for a “lightweight” action like the NBK being heavier than the chunky Origin and it just doesn’t add up in my head.

Here’s what I’m thinking for the build as of right now.
-Lightweight LA action
-20-22” 7PRC carbon barrel, probably Bartlein or Proof
-MDT HNT26 folder or XLR Element Mg
-Leupold VX5 3-15x

Any recommendations for other parts to shave a little weight or personal endorsement of the things I listed are appreciated.

i know this is way late so im guessing you already built, i just finished 2, 7prc for western hunts since i live in colorado
first and my favorite is
terminus kratos lite High recommend this action around 26 to 28 oz so a little heavy but great action
xlr 4.0 mag chassis
proof 24 barrel and vortex lht 4.5x22 scope that 21 oz total is 9.8 lbs with scope

2nd is my lightweight option
lone peaks ti fuzion at 21 ox
carbon six barrel which is a tad lighter then proof since it a smaller diameter same length
again xlr 4.0 mag chassis
and same as prior vortex lht 4.5x22 scope weight in at 8.4 lbs. rifle above on the terminus i also have a 300 prc barrel which is normally mounted since i have a 2nd 7prc. 20 inch barrel seams short and you would be reducing it to a 7 mag bassically but you can fit the better bc bullets better in the prc. just my thoughts. i would look into terminus kratos lite if your still building and its a 60 degrees bolt which i love. sorry for any spelling errors.

I haven’t built yet but I’ve got all the parts ordered just waiting on a few back orders, and the barrel is at the smith getting chambered and cerakoted. I did go with the 20” and I know I’m losing velocity but I’m a big fan of portability especially because I run suppressed 99% of the time, those 26” barrels with suppressors get in the way a lot.

I went with:
Kelbly Nanook 26.5oz
Element Mag chassis, carbon furniture and folder
Proof 20” 7PRC CF tube
NF NX8 4-32 28oz
Triggertech Diamond

Still deciding on scope rings between the NF Ultralites and Hawkins ultra lights. That scope is a lot more scope than I was planning on, but came across a deal I couldn’t pass up. It may find a home on another gun in favor for something lighter when western hunting, but for now it will live on this new rifle.
If my math is mathing correctly I should come in a touch below the 9 pound mark. Hoping to have all the parts in and barrel finished in the next 2-3 weeks so I can have it built and start testing ammo by the end of February.
