Hi All

Just wanted to show off an incredible Christmas present I got from my partners sister.

She created this from scratch with my best mate without me knowing anything about it. It's extremely well made in a coarse waterproof material and is filled with several pounds of dried corn kernels. As you can see it also has a fully integral strap and loops to help me lug it around. I haven't had a chance to use it yet but I'm pretty sure it's going to become an essential item in my kit bag.

As a coincidental bonus I’m hoping the dark earth colour will match my ‘soon to arrive’ AICS as well!!!

Let me know what you think:

Re: Custom Front Sand Bag for Christmas!

I think that's a nice simple front bag, I like it. She looks like a good designer/seamstress. I'm curious how tall it is to the bottom of the 'V', and what it does actually weigh? Nice present, that looks really well made.

I will tell you that I have had friends use corn as fill before and it can be dicey.

One ended up with some kind of worms in his, and it was just dried corn kernels, kind of messy, a bunch ended up in his truck, but just a vacuum job got rid of all of them, he replaced his fill with bb's, which was a bit heavt, but it was a smallish bag like yours, so no biggie. You did say the material for your bag was waterproof, so maybe not an issue for you, but another friend had a rear 'sock' style squeeze bag with corn in it, and after getting wet...well you get it--wet corn--not so good!

Nice kit!
You may want to have her open it up, and spray some silicone into the corn and then put it back in. This will prevent rot, and keep any bugs out of it. Panty 6 made me a rear bag with rice and did that. Stuff is still working and her double 'issue' t-shirt material is still fine for range duty

Nice Bag! Try using plastic airsoft BB's for your fill instead of something organic... Example:

With a little help from my madre I put this together last night... It's 5" tall x 4" wide at the back, 7" long on the base, and is filled with plastic airsoft BB's (could've probably gone shorter on the base length). Made out of a tan canvas. Total cost was around $15 (most expensive were the BB's!) and took about an hour to make. All the seems are triple sewn and reinforced on the inside so hopefully it'll last me awhile. Even got a nice strap sewn into the back!

I like a big rear bag and the triangle shape and airsoft BB's make it decently lightweight and easy to get it where you want it.

Hope you don't mind, I've seen a number of different bags on the net and liked the wedge shaped bag concept I saw on your site so i decided to give it a shot for a home-made larger version...

Steve,

When do you expect more in? I'm loving that design!

To go with the saying, I'm flattered now that you mention that you got the idea from me

Re: Custom Front Sand Bag for Christmas!

I got 100 of them a few weeks ago, but they had almost no fill in them. They all got sent back to be fixed. When those arrive, plus the next regular installment, I should have 200+ of them on hand.

There is also a larger version that is in the pipe as well. R&D/T&E was done months ago, just waiting on production :-(
