For sale is my 6.5-284 done on a weatherby mark V action. Kind of a nice action to build on as they have the 60 degree bolt throw and are smooth.
Trued action
Bell and Carlson ultralight stock
Bedded action to stock
Wilson #2 barrel, 1:8, 24”
Factory trigger tuned
Factory weatherby hinged floorplate
If I recall the bare rifle weighs 6 lb 8 oz. but can verify for a serious buyer.
I bought this very lightly used, under 100 rounds on it. I have put approx 60 on it. Originally it had a 3.00” magazine box and bolt throw, I removed the spacer and had my gunsmith mill the bolt stop channel to allow longer OAL seating. My current load is with the 130 gamechangers and it’s a real shooter, 2/3 moa at 100 was easy.
130 gamechangers - 3200 fps
156 EOL - 2900 fps
The 156 shot really well in it too, and previous owner said 140s shot nice.
Rifle feeds very well with the exception of sometimes the 2nd to last round can hang up, I believe it was because this action was a 243 or 22-250, so the follower may need to be tweaked or a new one can be ordered from weatherby for the fatter/longer . It never really bothered me so I never did.
EDIT - I checked this morning, rifle feeds fine as is, stretched the spring out a bit and I fed all four rounds perfectly.
this is a great packing rifle, I carried it last year and shot a mule deer with it. I got a deal on a 6.5 saum so I don’t need this one around any longer.
Rifle -$1250 $1200 shipped
Rifle, Forster 2-die bench rest set, some new and used brass -$1350 $1300
