Are there any companies that do custom steel targets? I have a plasma table and have capability of cutting out anything you can draw up to 5" thick. Have yet to try cutting the AR steel on it which is why I am posting just in Rimfire for now. Just seeing if this is an offering people have interest in, if so I will get some pricing together. We fabricate around 1m pounds of steel a month so the steel price is excellent, currently seeing if any of our regular steel vendors sell AR450-500 to hopefully get a nice discount on that as well. If this is something you are interested in simply comment or like the thread and I will get some pricing together.

I am not an engineer or metallurgist (so take my opinion with a grain of salt), but I have bought AR500 Targets cut on a plasma table/with heat (that or they did not specify how they were cut), and I have targets cut on a water-jet table, and I have experienced a very marked difference in their durability and longevity.
The AR500 cut with heat get pock marked, and eventually get shot up. It still takes a long time, but at my club it's really easy to differentiate. The ones cut with water seem to made of Adamantium and show virtually no wear no matter how many times you shoot them. I have read/heard that in order to retain all the abrasion resistant qualities you cannot reheat the steel, and this tracks with my experience. This is ONLY shooting them with match bullets, but even .300WM @ 100 yds does nothing to them. If you shoot steel core or AP they pock the hell out of AR500 no matter what.

Thank you for the knowledge on the AR steel cracking from heat. Do have a much smaller/older water jet table, but am not familiar with its programming capabilities. I'll explore that option further. In the meantime I will work on some pricing for regular steel to be used for rimfire. Have seen 1000's of rounds hit even 1/4" A36 steel with no degradation. But have the capability and stock to do anywhere between 1/8"-5". Will post something in this thread when I have the information together on pricing. Shipping will probably end up being more expensive then the actual item... depending on shape/size/thickness/quantity of course.
After further looking into cutting AR500 with plaz it only appears to impact a 1/4" deep on the edge. People seem to be more concerned with welding it then plasma cutting it. May have to get my hands dirty and test them side by side like this guy did with laser vs plasma
but I will test water jet vs plasma.

Best Targets supplies 22 steel to PRS style 22 matches and has a wide variety of targets. 1/4" is used, likely due to improved sound and plate reactivity when struck with a 22 projectile.

After looking further into the market it seems there are plenty of places that do targets especially for rimfire. I don't see any that offer complete customization though. So I'll do this to just hopefully make some friends and join the community here. No charge for markup or labor.

At this time I will charge no markup or labor so basically just the price of steel (currently $0.61/lb) + 10% for consumables and handling + shipping.
