Has anyone installed a Timney CZ455 trigger in a CZ 455 Precision Trainer? Just trying to find out how much I will need to inlet the Manners stock to fit the Timney. Timney instructions say its necessary for a CZ 455 'wood stock' but not sure if that info also applies to a Manners stock. Thanks

Re: CZ 455 Precision Trainer and a Timney trigger

I dont have a Timney trigger but it is my understanding with a wooden stock there is some fitting that has to be done but it isnt much. That being said I dont see a problem with the PT composite stock that cant be resolved with some light use of a dremel. I have a 455 PT Manners stocked rifle currently with a yodave kit and while its great I have thought about eventially getting a timney trigger and installing it myself. I wouldnt worry if I were you.

Re: CZ 455 Precision Trainer and a Timney trigger

I have a CZ455 PT with the Manners stock. I put a Timney trigger in it, and a scope rail.

The rifle as delivered (Cheaper than Dirt) has no bedding. I bedded the whole action and an inch of the barrel. The action did "ring" in the stock when dry-firing with a snap-cap before bedding, now it does not. (Devcon 10110)

I installed the Timney trigger and it took a bit of work to get it right. A bit of stoning to the bottom of the firing pin, plus the sear to get it smooth with the right clearance. I adjusted the sear engagement just a touch, very little overall. Supposedly the Timney firing pin catch is left a few thou tall so it can be stoned to fit.

With the factory barrel, it shoots just under an inch at 100 yds with Wolf Match Target ammo. It is very susceptible to cant due to the ballistics, But you can watch the bullet trace as it flies to the target at 20x. It will be a great trainer! With practice it will be a consistent 3/4" gun.

I recommend it, but it took a bit of tweaking to get it the way I like it.

Like TriggerF16 my rifle on non-windy days is a MOA shooter at 100 and thats not bedded or tweaked much accept a yodave kit and a bitchen paint job and retexture to the stock if I dont say so myself. While I plan to get a timney trigger it wont be for a while. I see my rifle getting bedded soon and maybe a Lejia barrel then maybe a trigger. Putting a 14 year old thru private school and being a single parent .22 are pretty much all I can afford to shoot so this and my Kimber 82G for a while so Im making the best of it.

Re: CZ 455 Precision Trainer and a Timney trigger

I can provide an update on my CZ455 PT. I had a local gunsmith thread the barrel for my Sparrow, bedded the action in Devcon, and tuned the Timney trigger. It needed a bit stoned off the length to work correctly.

I shot it this past weekend at 50 yards for some practice. Groups seemed to get tighter the more I shot it. Ammo was Wolf Match Target. The best group was the last. 5 shots, .240" All groups were under 1/2" at 50 yds, but the later ones were more circular and consistent. Could be the shooter, the rifle or the wind.

For the money it has been a great gun. Funny side note, it is extremely quiet with the can and standard velocity ammo. I thought the first shot was a misfire. I extracted the fired case, checked the barrel, and shot another to be sure. Granted I was at a public range with earplugs in, but it was silly quiet.

Lots of fun to shoot. I'm sure I will practice with it a lot.

Stoned off the length of what? The shoe, or the sear?

Re: CZ 455 Precision Trainer and a Timney trigger

I removed a few thousandths from the length of the sear that engages the bottom of the firing pin. This needs to be tuned for each rifle. The safety needs to be function checked after that.

A phone call to Timney can clarify this. They stand behind their product.
