Hello everyone! Finally pulled the plug on a CZ 455 Tactical that I got on a great deal from a fellow snipers hide forum member. Anyway, now I'm looking at scopes, rings, etc. The one thing I have read about is the potential for the bolt to hit or atleast skim your knuckles when running the bolt. I've settled on a SWFA SS scope so that's that. I also ordered a area 419 picatinny rail to make scope mounting easier. Now the question is what ring height should I be looking at? The objective lens is 42mm. Having said that though, I don't know what the actual dimension is of the scope body at the objective lens for those curious about the possibility of barrel to scope interference. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance to everyone who replies.

I'm surprised you haven't received a response to this... welcome to SH. I don't know how high the Area 419 rail is, but I can tell you that my 455 outfitted with a DIP 20MOA rail needs the 1.26" Vortex PMR rings on my Viper PST 3-15x44 (30mm tube) in order for the bolt to clear the scope. The DIP rail is very thin (but it works, and it hasn't shifted in the year and couple of thousand rounds fired). Perhaps shorter rings would work, but I'm skeptical.

Thank you for the replies. Everything should be arriving tomorrow so we will see. I hoping that between the 30 moa area 419 rail and a scope with a 42mm objective lens, the bolt and barrel will clear. If not, I'll just return the rings for a slightly higher set. Thanks again everyone. Beautiful rifle by the way downhillfromhere.

I like Burris Sig. Zee rings. ( med. or high will work for your setup. 30mm ring have can have up to 20 moa in the rings) You can adjust the scope with the inserts and they never leave ring makes.
