Hey guys I posted a thread sometime ago asking questions about the cc 457 varmint and didn’t get too much back so I figured that I would post my own thread on site and let you guys know what the results that I came up with if anybody has any input please add to the thread

so for starters I’ll show everyone the gun I bought this rifle at sportsman’s warehouse for about $550 a bit pricey but it was worth it

so here is the gun, after seeing one persons post on here (can’t remember what his name is) who had come across a gun that had some very nice lumber on it and couldn’t pass it up I began to wonder how mine would look because I ordered it and didn’t get to see the rifle before I bought it, but as it happened this is the gun that was sent to me and I am very pleased with it I love the sort of tiger striped grain in it one of a kind. I feel like I hit a small wood lottery lol but now to accuracy

This is at 60 yards these are usually the length of the shots I encounter and it is about 1” low at 100 yds

Some other info about the rifle I put a 0 moa triggers by scar rail on it and topped that with a leupold vx freedom 3-9x40 and alps adjusted all available options on the trigger mechanism and got it down to a real nice weight of pull not sure how low but if feels amazing but anyway hope I get some replies kind of new here thanks guys!!

Congrats! this is one of the nicest cz stocks I've seen. Most definitely a wood lottery jackpot. I have three CZ rifles (be careful, they do tend to multiply) and they are all plain Jane compared to this one.

Do take good care of it, if anything, its resale value will be higher compared to a 'normal' cz 457

Yeah *rim-star* it’s amazing how adjustable this trigger is I was able to get mine down to scary low weights of pull like if an envelope brushed against it it would go off but I got it to a nice and safe but still very east to touch off weight of pull by adjusting all 3 components

Very good shooting. I have a 455 pro vmt. a 457 at one & 457 mtr. the only one that shot that good out of the box is the mtr. I now have a lilja on the 455 & a LW barrel on the at one. now they all shoot very well. the two with custom barrels shoot better than the mtr but not enough to get me to put another barrel on it. congrats on your new gun. sounds like it is a keeper.

I have owned several 22mags over the years , the only one that shot worth a darn was a cz 453. it was a one holer . like a dummy i traded it off. I hope no one doubts your gun shoots this well. if i ever buy another 22mag it will be a cz.

That’s a beauty. I would buy one today if I knew it would look like that. I won one wood lottery with a 455V, but yours looks even better than mine. It looks to be a shooter too. There goes my theory that the rifles with nicer wood don’t shoot as wellz

I think that is Turkish Walnut.

Interesting. If that is Turkish Walnut it’s like no Turkish walnut I’ve ever seen before. That kind of figure develops in a few species of wood and walnut isn’t one of them. I do know I have seen some stocks in the past that were marketed as walnut and were actually birch or maple stained to look like walnut because they basically ran out of walnut and had to use a different wood. Either way it is a very attractive stock.

Does anyone know if the 457 MTR will fit in aftermarket stocks the same as a 457 Varmint?
I want to get an MTR, but don’t like the factory stock.

All of the 457 actions are the same so yes they will fit in stocks/chassis made for 457’s. If you don’t like the MTR stock then you should consider just buying a drop in barrel

lilja, lothar-walther & others make drop in barrels for cz 455& 457s. i think the LW barrel is by far the best buy. I have a lilja on my 455 & a LW on my 457. LW barrel shoots best & $140.00 cheaper than lilja. The LW barrel fit more snug in action than lilja did, which I like.

The fiddleback figure that shows as vertical lines against the grain comes from a very large tree and this wood was near the bottom. It because of all the weight the stock was under. It probably is American walnut since it lacks the real dark lines that wood from turkey usually has.

Either way its an awesome looking stock. I can't say I have ever bought a gun sight unseen. That would drive me nuts waiting to see what the wood is gonna look like.

Haha yeah it did once I realized how widely that type of wood could vary but really there are only two things that can happen you either get character or you don’t lol and if you do just depends on how much haha I got lucky tho! But I had seen other 457’s that were just plain and they are still a beautiful gun just not as gifted if you will

They are good triggers, I put a spring in mine that I purchased on ebay that dropped mine to 10 oz, could probably go lower, best 6.99 I have spent on a gun ever.

Yeah for sure mine eventually worked it’s way loose I figure it’s just barely holding on when I adjust it so low it stayed that way for about a month and even when worked loos was about a 1lb weight of pull which is fine by me
