"Not too terrible." My EDC is a gen 2 P-07, and I fully endorse Ian's evaluation - it's definitely not too terrible!
For those of us of a certain age, shooting DA/SA is perfectly natural as our earliest experience shooting handguns was with double-action revolvers. My father taught me to shoot with his 1963-vintage S&W Model 10. I've owned a number of self-loaders over the decades too, and recently had a Glock 19 for about 5 years, and while it functioned flawlessly, I never really got entirely comfortable with the gun. I then spied a nearly-new CZ P-07 at the LGS and asked to take a look at it. It was like going home again - everything from the trigger action to the grip angle to the overall solid feel of the gun felt
right in a way the Glock never quite did, and I negotiated a trade on the spot. Putting a few thousand rounds through the P-07 has confirmed that initial impression, as it is the most comfortable auto-loading self-defense handgun I've ever handled. It's a bit bulkier and a couple of ounces heavier than a G19, but it's just right in every way that really counts to me.
The updates on this latest incarnation of the P-09/P-07 appear to be well thought-out, particularly the magazine alteration. The optics cut doesn't really add a lot of value for me, but it certainly makes the gun more appealing for those who desire that option. It's nice to see CZ isn't neglecting this gun, but rather they seem to believe it's worth keeping it relevent in the current market.
