Looking to upgrade to a better barrel than the factory pro varmint barrel. Is there really a good better best option or are they all better then stock?

Looking to add weight and accuracy. Need to get some more weight forward.

I went thru the same thought process this summer with a 455 VPT. The OEM barrel shot pretty well, but I felt like the 455 would benefit from a heavier barrel and hey -maybe it’ll shoot better. Plus I wanted a threaded muzzle to experiment with tuners.

Went with a 20” IBI. About .5 lb heavier than the OEM 20” varmint barrel. IBI is .920” dia at the muzzle, OEM is .820”. Install was fairly straight forward. Took about 150 rnds for the barrel to settle in. Shoots SK just as well if not a little better than the OEM barrel. Balances the rifle better.

IBI quoted me 8-10 weeks, got it in 9.

At our local matches we have a guy running an IBI barrelled 457 that has shot a 2150 PSL target loading from the magazine. It consistently shoots tight groups with Midas + and a Calfee 4 chamber. It's a 22" fluted olympic contour and a Harrells tuner.

Lilja Cz 45x barrels that I’ve seen all shoot pretty good. Tight chambers, and I like the headspace shims to allow for ammo tweaks.
