CZ457 Dry Firing Idea

I want to do a lot of Dry Firing with My CZ457.
I do not want the tip of the firing pin to get damaged and don't want to use any form of "Snap Caps".
I have a spare firing pin, could I cut about 1/4" off and install it in the bolt.
Would the trigger still work?
In my mind it will be fine.

I've often thought about that. I've heard that since the rimfires headspace off of the rim of the cartridge, that the firing pin won't strike the barrel face if dry fired.
Anyone know if this is true? And if so, is there another face/part on the firing pin that would stop the pin and possibly get damaged?

I called CZ and they said the 457 is dry fire safe even though the owners manual says it isn't

I have dry fired my Pro Varmint thousands of rounds with factory and Timney trigger no issues with firing pin

Demonstrate to yourself whether or not it is dry-fire safe.
Take out the bolt and turn the bolt handle to the fired position which will extend the firing pin. If it does not extend past the bolt face it cannot hit the breech face or chamber rim.

For general information purposes: This is really dependent on the individual firearm's design. Chamber mouth dings are common on .22's and can drive you nuts with extraction issues on semi auto pistols, the tiniest dings you barely notice with the naked eye. That's why the sell "chamber irons".

Interesting. I learn something new every day! I guess I never thought about the fact that the trigger holds the firing pin back when you put the bolt into battery and if the bolt isn't in the rifle, the pin goes full forward.

The 457 firing pin has a large face that contacts the barrel far away from the edge of the chamber and distributes the force of the impact to eliminate deformation.
