That is a true statement. Unfortunately, what is also true is that the wind in the areas I hunt is so wildly unpredictable you could drive yourself crazy trying to "get it right" in order to optimize your chances. I can't even count the times I've walked miles in a big loop to get the wind in my face, only to have it switch on me mid stalk. I bet I go through a gallon of wind checker in my puffer bottle during archery season. It can all be worth it though on the rare days you can get the wind in your face and the sun at your back....
Great trail cam footage, bull bugled as if on cue. Those elk do look spooked, but I have also seen them act that way when they are going out to feed, especially when they are running into some ranchers alfalfa field. It's like crack cocaine to them and they get all nimbly bimbly when they want to go eat it.
