Rifle Scopes Damn you USO!!!

I have nothing to complain about with my new scope. Just picked it up today and it's perfect. SN-3 1.8-10X37, fits the rifle just right. The new digital illumination is nice, I agree, a lot of settings and wish you could hold the button to get through them, Jeff told me 64 and sure enough there were. The internal bubble level is okay, hard to see at low power but not too bad at high power which is when I'll really want it.

Just want to say thanks everyone at USO for making such an awesome scope for me.

I'm not complaining, just observing. 3D pics... I could barely afford the scope, you'll be lucky to get a crayolee drawing at this point.

Here's what I did, pressed the up button about 100 times, then pressed the down button while counting my presses, it took 63 presses to go from max to min. I've done it 5 times now and it always takes 63 presses. Counting the first setting and the 63 presses, it has 64 settings. Try it, I'm interested to see if you get a different count.

Yes it does, but when you change the battery it defaults to the brightest setting. This is why I'm not complaining, if I had to go through 50 to 63 presses every time I turned it on, I'd complain. However I don't have to, just set and forget unless I need to crank it up for daytime use. Not a big deal to me.

I took this yesterday for a guy that wanted to see how close Cerakote's Magpul FDE was to actual Magpul FDE, it's pretty close.

I think the flash makes it look lighter but under normal light it's not far off.

+1 for U.S. Optics.

I have been using a 3.2 X 17 Tpal that I was issued earlier this week. I've owned and used a U.S. Optics scope in the past, but, I am still really impressed with the rugged durability and quality of glass and construction every time I pick one up. For sure, one of the top tier scopes available for hard use.

The customer service is absolutely top notch as well.

You are correct on the brightness settings. 64 is what I got also using your method. It does seem a little extreme. Only need dim, one up from dim, bright and maybe something in between. On bright you just about can look at the sun and clearly see the illumination yet. Mine is that bright.
There the other day when I was shooting, it was in full sun, dry and dusty like I was in a desert. The illumination was very much visible about 20 some steps up from it's dimmest setting with the sun shade on. Set that bright at night lights up the whole tube like a flashlight. In my opinion it only has one NV setting and that still may be too bright. Going to be a long time though before I ever can afford NV just to test my observations.

Why would you chose a stock/chassis that would force you to use use a mag lock/fixed mag configuration?

The 1.8-10 is the perfect optic for a M1A / M14 in my opinion. Nice scope, nice setup, enjoy it and welcome to the USO curse ... you want MORE !!!

Correct. I've had a standard stock, a McMillan M3A and a JAE G2 to comply with CA laws and use a detachable magazine. Just figured I'd give this a try to see how I like it. I have a pin blocking the mag release from working, it takes me about three minutes to remove it to go back to detachable mags. I mostly shoot at shooting ranges, I figure I don't have a real big need for high speed dynamic reloads. When I was running the JAE G2 I found myself top loading a 5 round mag most of the time, made me slow down more which made me shoot a bit better as well as not just dumping tons of ammo. To me the fixed mag setup is fairly minor, in the event I need to switch back to detachable it takes me three minutes.

Don't worry, you're not the first to ask and I doubt you'll be the last.

Took pics today that came out a little better...

Heads up guys, we will have the new program installed onto a test chip on Friday. There will be 12 steps that will covering the super low light all the way to a daytime extreme setting. These new pushbuttons should be available in the next couple of months.

I have both, the 11 position rheo. and the new push button model. Push button offers instant on which is great. Problem is it does take 60+ to go from brightest to lowest. The rheo makes you remove the cover cap, but you can adjust brightness
with a simple turn.
I guess the push button instant on is more desirable in a tactical situation.
If you will be changing reticle intensity often, rheo is prob. a little more handy.

One super feature with the new model is the auto shut off. I always forget to turn the rheo model off, just buy the 2032 batteries in the two pack!

Also, has anyone else seen the 2032 batteries labeled as "medical"? I wonder if they have a longer rated life.

I will be sending my SN-3 in soon for the digital illumination upgrade. Glad to hear the new program will have fewer steps.

I like the covered illum control, but the rheostat just isn't reliable. I have had to go in and tighten screws and clean contacts to get it going again. It's one of the very few complaints I have on my SN-3.

I am still trying to decide if I want to have the level installed. It looked pretty slick when I played with it at SHOT, but I just don't know if I would actually use it.

Very cool JBW#3, Jeff had mentioned it to me when I picked it up. He also mentioned it'll be a simple swap out item the user can do. I'll definitely be looking into getting one when they're available.

how do you like the lower power of that scope at close range targets? say, to 50 yards? is the FOV decent?

by the way, what mat is this? does it double as a case?
How do you like it? Would a normal length rifle fit in it?

The low end works quite nice for 50 yards, That's about what it is to the neighbors houses across the street and the FOV still allows for quick target acquisition.

The mat is an Eagle HSRC LE 44", it's a drag bag, case and shooting mat as well as having some extra features, very nice case. You can get the standard HSRC which is 51" long and fits normal length rifles quite well.
