I know it can be confusing figuring out what you need to start off with. The data books available out there are tailor made to your shooting style, but there are some good pre-made ones for those starting out.

I personally prefer Impact Data Books not only because I've known Tony since we graduated Scout Sniper School together, but their products really are top notch. They just ended their April promotion, but keep an eye out if they start one for May.

I chose the <span style="font-style: italic">"Rite In Rain"</span> Storm Tactical data book and it's loaded with lots of useful stuff whether you're a novice or expert level shooter. If I'm not mistaken, it seems like I remember reading that Storm Tactical also supplies data books for the military and I'm not saying you should base your decision off of that because I'm sure others may do the same but I really don't know. I just thought it was pretty cool.
Both Storm Tactical and Impact Data are Hide vendors so you can't go wrong with either of them. Just pick one that you like and go from there. You can add/remove pages as needed.

You can buy a pre built book or tailor it to what you do. If you're not shooting UKDs or movers, no sense in buying a book with those pages. I'd recommend some reference pages like formulas, calculations and tips you can thumb through before a match.
Pages are cheap, $3 a set I think, so get a good simple foundation and add as needed(or buy pre built)

I love my storm data books. The write in the rain package is awesome and it's the one I use on my main rifle. You can't go wrong with any of their models. Mark is a former Marine as am I and they donate product and money to our active duty snipers so it's a no brainer in my opinion. Also Mark provides awesome service.

Offering premade or modular books, which they were the first to do, that the customer can choose what pages and how many he wants. Also you have you paper choices of standard or Rite in the Rain as well as pocket data books that he has been doing for a while now.
Tony, the owner of Impact Data Books, was not only a Marine but also a school trained Marine sniper so his books come from what he has learned from his time in the field and training as a sniper. It's also why he is a supporter of the military and donates books. He has also been a shooting competitor for over 15 years as well as a Federal Police Officer for the past 11 years.
