Hey all, just wanted to see what you guys are carrying in terms of total gear weight for your day hunts only.

I carry about 25/30 lbs with my rifle (SRS or AXMC) and backpack combined.
If you guys could list your rifle weight and pack weight that would be great! If you want to get more detailed that would be greatly appreciated too.

I think this could be a good excercise and self reflection on what we all carry and if some can be cut down.

I carry about 15#'s total in my pack and my rifle is 10.5#'s total

    Arcteryx Khard 30

    Sitka Gear Stormfront hard shell
    Beanie
    Small lunch in ziplock
    1 liter of water
    4 light weight game bags
    GPS (Garmin Oregon)
    Waterproof Map
IFAK with CAT-T, matches and space blanket
    12 Extra Havalon blades
    20' paracord
    Small T handle bone saw
    9 extra rounds of ammo

I'm about 28-30 lbs , SRS A1, KUIU 7200 , 15x binoculars. For day hunts I don't bring the kitchen sink , just a lunch, water and filter, Havalon w/ extra blades and game bags . I always carry a serious fire starting kit and rain gear , in the places I hunt it can turn from hunting to an overnight survival situation quickly.

Any idea how much your srs weighs? I’m at 14.7 lbs with super heavy fluting. Might be able to get it lighter with a different scope and rings. How do you like the kuiu?

I like the KUIU a lot , it's light enough for hay hunts but has enough capacity to bring out a boned out deer in one trip if needed . My SRS is just under 15 lbs with a fluted barrel , Atlas bipod and 4-16x56 Hensoldt . As soon as my suppressor gets out of jail it'll be a pound heavier.

I’m in California so no suppressor and I don’t use a brake. Scope is NF 7-35 in a spuhr. Covert A1 with a super deep fluted 6.5 Saum barrel.
That's interesting that the weight works out that way. How long is the barrel and what other accessories are you using on it that may drive up the weight?I'm planning ahead for how to outfit mine when I get one so it stays under 14 pounds with suppressor ideally.

Just another data point on SRS weight...I have a 25" 6.5 Creed barrel that drops to a straight 0.70" straight contour pretty quickly. It weighs something like 3.9x lbs. Very close to my 22" fluted factory 308 at around 4lbs. Both barrels are hammers, even the skinny one with a suppressor hanging off it, and it can sustain 10+ rounds of acccurate shots. Chassis is about 7, so 11 lbs sans scope and rings, which is your next best bet to save weight on a hunting rifle.

My pack is somewhere around 15-20lbs. I have a detailed sheet somewhere....but all my serious backpack hunting has been with a bow to date.

I'm in CA also. Generally my pack weighs 10-20ish pounds depending on where and what I'm hunting plus another 13-14ish pounds with the rifle.

Typically, I'll keep a nalgene ( maybe more depending on the where), water filter, meal bar or two, small survival kit, ultra light med kit + 1 tourniquet, a tripod or the big harris bipod, water proof bag with an extra pair of socks, gloves, and beanie and maybe a jacket of sorts depending on how cold or shitty the weather is, and game bags. Sometimes I'll throw in my fox pro or spotter but nothing crazy.

Then I keep some small stuff in my bino pack and use it like a chest rig- Sig range finder, Havalon and a couple blades, leatherman, some hand calls, and an extra 5rd mag.

My pack is normally 15-16 pounds when deer hunting (PNW) plus 7 or so pounds of rifle. Elk hunting is normally a few more pounds in the pack plus a muzzle loader that feels like 10 pounds.
