i have been tasked with updating our SERT teams sniper rifle setup. currently we run rem 700's with low end leu mark ser scopes. we have come across some grant money to upgrade and my sheriff wants nightvision and the works, says money is not a limit. my team commander wants a couple .308 AR's as the base. i have come up with GAP AR-10, LWRCI SABR, Armalite AR-10 SASS, DPMS LR-308L, DPMS LRT-SASS, Panther LR-308B.

my question is on the scope since i cant find reviews on rifle scopes over the net. i was looking at the centurion system since it uses day/night eyepiece instead of a screw on adaptor. i want something that will not change eye relief. i looked at images of the PVS 14 and it looks like the scope has to be pretty far forward to get the PVS to fit. i want to stay away from ATN since i havent heard much positive and this will be a department rifle where liabilities would be concerned. magnification is not a huge requirement but medium range would be good. looking more for higher gen rating so that we can tell who we are aiming at.

any experience would be appreciated or other options.

ITT Night Enforcer® F7201A

I used one of these for years as an LE Sniper and was very happy with it. I think the original scope was a McMillan, don't know what they use now. First Focal plane Mil Dot reticle. I switched back and forth from day optic to NVS several times, others just used it as a dedicated Night vision rifle. Might be better stuff out there now, but I looked at lots of other gear, and that was the best I could find at the time.

i was also thinking of something that could be attached to the obj end of the day scope for night use. we are trying to keep the size down since these will be kept in our patrol car trunks and we already have to live out of these things for work. impalas suck for space. i tried clicking on the link and it doesnt work.

for just a few that sell one. </div></div>

+1 PVS22 seems to be the way to go. If I had an extra $7K laying around, I would get rid of my GenIII PVS4 and get a PVS22

Re: day/night vision rifle scope for LE sniper rifle

well i am not sure yet as to how much is not an option. that is all i heard from the sheriff. he has been around a while so his idea of a lot may not be that much now days. i was looking at the morovisions mv-760, and 740's. wonder if the company will send a test unit before purchasing?

Re: day/night vision rifle scope for LE sniper rifle

I don't know if they will do that or not.

I've got a D-740 (Gen 3, Pinnacle) from OpticsHQ coming Friday. I am in no way involved with LE (other than a few buddies who are peace officers). A guy I know has a D-760 from OpticsHQ and it works very well - especially with the ELR illuminator. He has put down many a pig and coyote over the last 2 years with it. Their prices are not set in stone either (OpticsHQ). I ordered my scope last Thursday, and haggled off $250 and thought I did good. Then I talked with Byron (the guy with the D-760) and he ordered 3 of them for friends for about $500 off each one LOL.

PVS-22 is the way to go. Price was around 8500.00. Get ahold of Mike Matzko at Omni Products Ph. 724-295-2880 he will help you out. I actually took mine and duct taped them to my Steiners last week on an operation that didn't call for a rifle, but did need some magnafication with NVG. Can put the PVS-22 on a bolt gun or on an AR, what ever has a rail platform is GTG.

Re: day/night vision rifle scope for LE sniper rifle

thanks guys i will let my commander know. sound like we have to narrow down our options in a few weeks. the bad thing is that my sheriff knows a guy who works for sig sauer and i think he is limiting us to only what that guy can get or has access to.

Re: day/night vision rifle scope for LE sniper rifle

I'm using a leupold M1 illuminated reticle, McCann mount and a pvs-22. I would like to upgrade the scope, but the funds aren't there. You might want to think of an ir illuminator also. The mount has rails on the side to mount the illuminator.

Re: day/night vision rifle scope for LE sniper rifle

mattc51, gives us a call. We routinely run training and build many systems for lots of LE folk including IR lasers/illuminators for tactical applications. Hope this helps. We are a distributor with OSTI as well with good guy prices.

Re: day/night vision rifle scope for LE sniper rifle

Randy at Mile High Shooting Accessories has offered to ship me a BVS22 (civilian version of PVS22) to test along with the Morovision D740. all we have to do is pay shipping and insurance. Randy is a dealer with Morovision so we will compare the scopes and see what we like. i appreciate all the help you guys have given. i thought the thread died out and to be honest i hadnt checked it in a while. doesnt take long for threads to get pushed back on this site with all the new ones popping up. i will check and see what kind of prices we can come up with. Victor I will keep you in mind if we want to look for something else or come down to some price haggling.
