Hey guys,
I’m 9 months into having my Nomad in jail. Hopefully it’s coming soon so trying to get set up on a QD mount. Want minimal POI shift and repeatable zero.

This will be going on a couple light weight hunting rifles to probably won’t go Keymo. I have Keymo on my ARs. I like it but they are heavy.

I have Area419 brake on one rifle and am eyeing theirs. Will the area419 adaptors work with DeadAir and Thunderbeast? I don’t have a thunderbeast right now but have been tempted to add another.

Other options:
new Dead Air Xenomorph?
Q Plan B?
Other?

Area 419 will work with the nomad and thunderbeast, the plan B will not work with TB. I have both and they’re both great. Area 419 is lighter, probably shorter and has a much better brake if you want to run one. I use the 419 on all my hunting rifles and swap a flat capped omega around.

Are you going to keep the keymo on the ARs? I don't see going back and forth between keymo and any of the other stuff as being very convenient. Kind of defeats the purpose of any QD.

I've got a nomad too and put keymo on everything, my lightweight/skinny barrel hunting rig included. Once you're adding a can and any break, plus QD stuff, the couple extra ounces for the keymo is really a non issue.

Is the xenomorph supposed to be a minimalist mounting thing? I got their email the other day but haven't looked into it past that.

I've found mine to be very repeatable, BTW.

I have 2 Keymo suppressors on the ARs. This is not for those guns. Not that I’m against Keymo. Just seems to be lighter options.

xenomorph looks similar to plan B. Light weight tapered brake.

kinda similar to what I was thinking. Reaffirms my reasoning.

Look at the Energetic Armament adapter for the Thunder Beast CB brakes. I almost went the Area 419 option for my Nomad, but really wanted something with a brake that I didn't have to thread back on after I took the Nomad off. If you're already invested in the 419 system that probably makes the most sense in your case

I have a Christian 6.5 PRC and I just added the Nomad 30 with Keymo mounts. The gun will not group with the can on it.
Tried the can on two other 6.5 PRCs same with my can with Keymo mounts and wouldn’t group on those guns either. Any thoughts of what might be wrong?

Holy necro-thread revival...

Sounds like either the barrel harmonics are changing, or your gun & ammo aren't meshing well after adding the backpressure of the suppressor...Try different ammo. And if you handload, try working up a new load. The suppressor shouldn't affect your groups negatively if your gun already shoots well with a particular load. But occasionally strange things do happen.

Have you checked the bore alignment using an appropriate alignment rod? That'd be the next thing I'd do after having verified that the can causes problems on multiple rifles. Wouldn't be the first time this has happened with a DA can, but they'll make it right.

can you qualify that info? Like, it shot half moa before and with the can on it shoots 3 moa? Or what?

Small changes probably mean your load was right on the edge of a node and a big ass change could be something like baffle strikes or the brake being on too tight.
