Parts of Virginia and North Carolina are currently under a severe thunderstorm watch as a major multi-part winter storm system formed as a result of a receeding early season polar front from earlier this month colliding with still warm and wet airmasses coming up from the Gulf is bringing snow to the northeast and bands of severe thunderstorms in the Midsouth, with elevated risk for supercells maturing after dark.

Historically, December has seen a major elevated risk for 'maxed out conditions' occurring on the southeastern dry line between polar air masses from the north and warm Gulf tropical inflow along with high altitude shear that continue to feed supercell systems into maturity well after daylight hours. Two of the most costliest and longest track tornadoes in US history, the Mayfield and Rolling Fork F4/F5s, occurred in December. Residents of the Southeast and Midsouth are advised during this time of year to keep track of weather updates and livestreams of storm chasers in the region who operate mobile Dopplar radars.

I have been seeing all of this press and award nominations for the re-do of "Twister."

The previews don't inspire me and I don't they could capture with the new actors the magic that was Bill Paxton (RIP,) Helen Hunt, and Phillip Seymour Hoffman (RIP.)

One of the best lines of the original "Twister" was at her aunt's dinner table, people are explaining the Fujita scale to Bill's fiance'. She asks of there is an F5 (now called an EF-5). They say yes. She asks "What do you call that?"

The preacher answers, "We call that the finger of God."

    Amen, preacher.

I’m refusing to watch the second one for now as i just know it’ll suck.

-29/-39 here right now, going down to -43 tonight. Watch out for your thunderstorms and twister's and such.

    In your balmy tropics.

Rural Canada WILL survive the zombie apocalypse that is for sure!!! 😂 Doesn't matter if it's walkers or the WWZ sprinters. That kind of cold will freeze em solid and a golf club turns em into shards.

It gets so cold up there that when you speak, your words freeze and you have to wait until spring thaw to hear what you said.

Ya know, I really thought there was more hope with some of the members here. Especially when I added the -43 part. That was a subtle hint for all y'all "Farenheit'ers". You'd almost think we were talking about highway tractors.
Well you do realize who you’re dealing with, right?!?!?

@akmike47 How’s the weather down there?
