I have a aero precision M4e1 upper and handguard I plan on using to put together a dedicated 22lr upper for my SBR. I'm looking at the 4.5" bolt/barrel setup from CMMG or the 4" bolt/barrel from Taccom. Is one noticeably better than the other? Combination of the two maybe? Anyone who has hands on experience with either of these companies, I'd like to hear what you have to say about them.

I have put a 2-3 thousand rounds through my CMMG upper and it runs like a dream. It will shoot pretty much anything but prefers higher velocity ammo. I don't have any experience with Taccom but have been very pleased with the CMMG.

I had a CMMG Mk4 upper for a while.

It was very accurate, however it jammed constantly! I tried everything to get it to work with no luck...5 different kinds of ammo and it hated them all. Three different magazines, no difference.
I contacted CMMG and they sent me link to a video on YouTube saying I needed to "buzz the chamber" which meant I needed to polish the chamber. I tried it, it helped a little bit, but still jammed all the time. After a round went off with the bolt partially open I got rid of it.
It seemed to be a quality upper, but it wouldn't function and CMMG customer service was a joke to say the least!!

Different brand, I have a Tactical Solutions Kestrel upper with a 9" barrel and suppressed thats runs 95% of the time on CCI standard velocity. The 5% that fail, the bolt goes back enough to eject but not enough to pick up the next round. With CCI tactical it runs 100%. Never shot it unsuppressed, so the failure rate would probably go up. Shot a CMMG of some sort and it ran 100% on the entire box of remington bulk.
