nahh, all you need is a good sling to carry that baby. hahah and some P.T. rig up some sort of saw pouch for it, and you could withstand the next zombie-bambie apocolypse!

Re: Deer Rifle Capable?

Just make sure the machine gun bunker is to standard, and prepare to move that gun like the marine featured in "The Pacific" On his arm when it gets hot. Nice MG

Re: Deer Rifle Capable?

seriously wonder if belts count when deer hunting towards the whole "5 rounds or less in any magazine/tube", i dont think they apply since it doesnt say "belt"

That was actually a play on Tony Stein, who made 8 runs barefoot back to the beach carrying wounded Marines and bringing back more ammo for his modified ANM2 aircraft machine gun- he's credited with single handedly taking out 5-10 machine gun emplacements and killing 20 Japanese.

Re: Deer Rifle Capable?

WVTrainer (member here) and I have a friend who lives in the eastern panhandle of WV who has a 1919 semi-auto that I have spent some time on over the years. I have shot it in both A6 configuration (buttstock, grip, and bipod) and A4 (from a tripod) and I was shocked at how accurate the thing was for what I previously considered an "area" weapon.

While I have never done it, I know that my friend has hunted WV Whitetail deer with it from a fixed position blind using 5-rounds linked (private property). I have seen the pics of the deer he killed with it. As I recall, it was approx. a 150yd shot and it only took one of the 5 rounds. Of course, he joked that 99% of all West Virginian hunt deer with a .30-06 (wink, wink...nudge, nudge)!

Having shot the thing a bunch, as well as mounting and dismounting it from the tripod...I can assure you that there is no way in hell I would haul the @#$%^&* thing around in the woods. Fixed position...ok. Walking hunt/stalk...HELL NO!

You know I started this thread as a joke to just post some pics of a new toy I picked up so My buddies could see it. But after getting this gun I have heard a shit ton of stories like this saying the accuracy on these things are phenominal not firing in full auto. I haven't gotten mine out yet till the tripod and pintle T&E set up shows up but after checking the barrel and rock solid design I dont see why it couldnt shoot well. Deer hunting...well maybe I'm a weirdo but I could see using it mounted to a hard stand. Hell, might have to mount a Countersniper on it now

Re: Deer Rifle Capable?

I have also heard stories of how accurate some MGs can be. Those 1919s are very well built and rock solid. Carlos Hathcock used a scope mounted M2 to make long distance shots in Vietnam. I think the heavy steel construction of these old MGs and their mounts makes for a rock solid system. A very nice gun sir!

Re: Deer Rifle Capable?

Nice!

Jeeezus, don't flame me... I don't know enough about the 1919 to tell from the pic...

Is that a transferable full auto, or one of the semi-auto conversions?
