Defiance Deviant vs. Lone Peak Fuzion vs. Impact Precision 737R

I already have two rifles built on Defiance Deviant Tactical actions. I've never had a problem with either. No failures to feed, no failures to eject, no binding issues, nothing. Both have run flawlessly with AICS and AW mags. Never a need to adjust magazine lips or the like. I suppose I'm just a little bored and have the itch for another rifle for some reason.

I shoot 6.5 Creedmoor exclusively. I have no need for controlled round feed, switch barrel setups, or the other similar innovations on some other actions. What I do like is integrated recoil lugs, integrated rails, one-piece bolts, the ability to work with both AICS and AW mags without modifications, small firing pins with mini-16 extractors and plunger ejectors, and hell... I just like the look of the faceted actions so that's a plus.

I like Defiance because you can custom order them with all the options I like (faceted bolt shroud, custom fluting and knobs, blind bolt release, and they work flawlessly with AICS and AW mags alike... at least in my experience (with Surgeon DBM).

Impact Precision looks interesting with the trigger hanger and I've heard good things about them. It would need to be custom ordered to work with AW mags, though. And I don't know if I would then be able to ONLY work with AW mags? Or if AICS will also work then? And they say you can somehow just order a prefit barrel and screw it onto the action yourself without sending off to a smith for rebarrel? I have never done something like that before so I don't know the process and what special tools I would need or how to ensure headspace is perfect (I shoot factory Hornady 140gr ELD-M ammo, I don't hand load, so I can't create a custom load for each rifle).

The Lone Peak Fuzion also looks nice and comes cut for AW mags as standard.

I suppose, I'm just trying to figure out what to do. My plan is to use with MPA Matrix chassis, if that's any consideration.

Ok are you defiance actions nitride coated? I ask because of not your missing out. My nitride defiance was very slick and smooth but my Impact is faster if that makes sense. The impact is a little looser with the tolerances but it doesn’t bind at all.

I hbe not had the chance to mess with a lonepeak yet but in my shooting group we have about 15 impacts. All of them are the same and with adjusting the trigger hanger can have very light bolt lift.

there is a “hitch” with the impact when your closing the bolt that acts like a spring and forced the bolt closed. Part of the reason theaction is so fast. Impact is also by FAR the most popular action in all of the matches down here but I’m in north Texas and southern Oklahoma. Where they are from so that probably plays a large factor.

IMO you can’t lose with an Impact/ foundation combo.

as far as predict barrels you order them for an impact and you just screw it on. Lists of companies are offering them now. the line peak also accepts predict barrels though as well.

No, my Defiance actions are Cerakoted. One has a parkerized bolt body and the other is Cerakoted. Both run great.

If I plan on using an MPA chassis, I suppose I could swap both in/out to compare. But seems like a waste of money to satisfy my boredom.

Bought an impact sight unseen and never felt one prior and can say it’s well worth the money. It just wants to run, and run smoothly at that. Ran it at a match Saturday with gusting 25mph winds blowing dust and sand and it ran the same at the end of the day as it did when I ran the first stage.

I’m sure Impact’s tolerances are just as fine as everyone else’s. They may have larger clearances and allowances, but those also will have tolerances.
There’s also more too it than, “just screwing it on.” You need a barrel vise of some sort and and action wrench of some sort and a torque wrench of some sort. See below.

I like the idea of being able to replace the barrel without having to mail the thing off to a smith and wait 6 weeks. So I think since I already have two Defiance actions, I'll try something different and go with with the 737 or Fuzion. The Fuzion is already cut for AW mags but I can buy barreled Impact actions easier and more prefits available.

I can basically bypass an entire "build" from a smith buy getting an MPA chassis + a barreled action and just drop it in and go. And then when I shoot the barrel out, I can just screw on a prefit without any downtime (as long as I get the necessary tools). Impact has prefits from Stuteville Precision, TS Customs, Altus/Core, and so on. Fuzion... can't really find many.

TS Customs are very familiar with the LP Fuzion and can spin up pre-fits. Awesome gunsmith that does great work.

The only other I’ve used was some Japanese mahogany in my bench vise at work.
Now I don’t have to drive to the office and this requires a heck of a lot less torque to keep from slipping. It’s a great piece of machining very well finished and I don’t feel like I’m distorting the bore of my barrel when I clamp it down.
I’m glad I grabbed it.

This is the Bravo. Not the Modular. They were on for $150 a couple weeks back. The exchange rate and shipping killed me, but it always does.
It does exactly what I wanted to do. Fits where I wanted it to fit, and I don’t have to make my own now. I got to support a reputable company that supports the community.

So I purchased both an Impact737R and an LPA Fuzion. Haven't gotten them home yet. But they arrived at store and just waiting for background check to clear and 10-day waiting period. But I checked them out while filling out paperwork and it was instantly obvious which one felt better to cycle: the Fuzion. It really is a night/day difference in feel. I can tell the Impact was designed to run in very dirty conditions. It does feel like a quality action. But it is much looser. The Fuzion feels closer to a Defiance Deviant Tactical. Much tighter and the bolt handle kind of wants to snap shut on its own, which is nice. My lady friend was with me. She has zero firearm experience but I gave her both actions to play with and she also immediately was like, "Hey this one [Fuzion] feels way cooler" I'm gonna try them both in an MPA chassis and see what's up. The Impact has a pre-fit from Stuteville and the Fuzion is getting a barrel from TS Customs.

The nice about the Fuzion is that while it feels like a well built machine, it's also incredibly tolerant of debris.

Yep, I like the Fuzion more. Sold the Impact to a happy buyer. So it's really personal preference. That said, my other two rifles with Defiance Deviants are also amazing. I just got bored and decided to try the Fuzion and Impact. Your rifle smith's chamber job and the barrel you go with have more to do with it. My Beanland Defiance/Bartlein rifles will group 5 shots at 100 yards in the teens. I think 0.13 MOA is my record. And these are tactical guns, not benchrest lol. Out to 1,000 yards I get first-round hits on 1 MOA targets easily. It's boring at this point.
