Defiance or Borden Action

Looking to build a custom hunting rifle. Just curious what you all have to say about these two actions on a dedicated hunting rifle.

I dont know about the Borden, but Defiance are very nice. Bighorn and Surgeon are also in the same league.

I had the same question....but after talking to Chad at longriflesinc I am going with the borden action (based on his recommendation) I am wanting a hunting rig more so then a paper shooter...although during off season I like to punch paper so kinda want the double duty..so to speak.

Alot more to our conservation then this little paragraph but you get the idea...

I say give Chad a call and ask him about it...

I've got a 7-08AI built around an early Borden Alpine and it shoots outstanding and weight is identical to 700 short action. My only quip, and its minor, is that the action is a bit tight in dusty conditions. I can't speak to Borden's current tolerances.

I can't speak for or against the Borden, but the Defiance is a fine action. I am very happy with mine.

I just got a Borden Alpine based rifle back in September. Smith was Karl Feldkamp@ Kampfeld Customs. Its a .243Win, about 3 weeks after getting the rifle I took it to Wyoming for my annual antelope hunt. Worked perfect with no problems, had wind & rain but action was slick. For a lightweight hunting build I sure like the Borden a lot.

I can't speak of the borden. I have a defiance action that has worked flawlessly since new.

I have both Defiance and Borden there both top of the line the only difference I really see is Borden runs a little tighter clearance on the bolt to reciever fit than Defiance, Borden just raised their prices so that won't be an issue as their pretty close on price now...good luck with your build!
