Defiance Remage build

So I'm building a Remage 300 PRC with an Xcaliber barrel.

I've got a few questions about the Defiance actions and a Remage setup.

1) What bolt nose option should I select (recessed? Flat?). Considering this is an Xcaliber barrel... I assume the barrel is cut for the rem 700 recessed nose?
2) Do the Defiance actions have enough magwell for CIP magazines on their long actions?

Remage barrels are cut for the recessed nose option.

What does the remage other than make barrel swaps longer and brass between swaps harder to control than a bunch of Smith cut barrels??

Price. If you want a basic barrel with no threading you can get one for 350 bucks only.
And availability if the options of what you want is sitting on the shelf.

Eliminates the need to have a particular gunsmith cut your barrels. The ability to manage headspace means it doesn't matter who you get the barrel from.

What I don't understand is this: it sounds like you prefer shouldered pre-fits. Why do you care if others prefer shoulderless barrels plus a nut?

I have never had the brass as I am switching back and forth end up with the exact same bump. Plus it takes longer.

Marc @ Spartan has my specs so barrels are easy to get. I have multiple calibers and multiple barrels in my safe.. it is faster and easier for me.

Well that makes sense, certainly for some people

Find a decent shouldered barrel for $350-450.

I can get great shooting savage and remage pre fits all day for that price often sitting on the shelf.

I can also set my headspace gnats ass tight.

300 for remage criterion, they shoot and clean as good as my Krieger and barts.

I know I’m late to this thread, but X-Caliber currently has a 30% off all barrels deal going on for the remainder of August, just ordered mine with a couple cosmetic extras to total up at $310 after shipping and taxes, pretty good if you ask me. Hope it helps in some capacity!
