I own a gun shop ive been dealing on gun broker here latley. Due to demand etc. i just want to know what a complete upper is. Alot of people are listing stuff as complete uppers. But the bcg and charging handle are pulled out. A complete upper is everything is included ready to go in my world. Just want to make sure im right before i dont pay for this.

Re: Define a complete upper for me

Complete upper means just that...COMPLETE!!

As in...ready to be installed on a lower and capable of firing/functioning/etc. right out of the box. It does NOT MEAN "minus BCG" or "minus CH" or "minus ______."

I too have seen some incredibly questionable listings on GB when trying to help some folks I know track down this and that in the last few months. Several list the item in the main title as "Complete Upper Receiver Group" but then when you read the detailed (sometimes not so detailed) description of the item, it clearly says "no bolt carrier group included" or other limiting language. My favorite was a fairly large retailer selling "Complete Bolt Carrier Groups" (as listed in the title) but described in detail as "bolt carrier ONLY" "you will need to add your own bolt, cam pin, firing pin..." (yeah...real "complete" huh?!?!).

The devil is always in the details (or as I have said here and elsewhere before...the large print giveth while the fine print taketh away).

Re: Define a complete upper for me

While it'd be nice if complete uppers included BCG and charging handle, that has not been my experience too often, I don't recall ever seeing it. Seems when I was looking they either weren't included or there was an upcharge for them from most if not all sources. So I'd say no, not included, or atleast don't count on it, with all things, read everything, if it isn't listed as a part its probably not included. I suppose they could easily, but the price will relect it so you're not gaining anything but a little convenience, of course currently that convenience would be worth its weight in gold.

Re: Define a complete upper for me

I find a lot of ads/people have different opinions on this. I have found a few who are just falsely advertising to draw people in. I base mine of a manufactures description of complete upper, this includes BCG, CH.

Kind of like my other pet peeve right now of everyone using the term "per-ban" to sell their items.

Re: Define a complete upper for me

A lot has changed in the last few months, but before then, from reputable companies I'd see this:

<span style="font-weight: bold">Complete upper receiver group</span> = Barreled upper with handguards or free float rails. No BCG or CH handle.

<span style="font-weight: bold">Complete upper half</span> = The whole shebang. Pin to lower and fire.
