Designated Marksman I

Overview: A designated marksman is a highly skilled individual capable of delivering precise fires at medium ranges, in self-defense or the defense of others. The curriculum for Designated Marksman 1 is equivalent to the military’s training standard for an individual acting as a “DM” and will empower graduates to perform as such.

• Range Estimation/ Determining the Unknown

• Max Point Blank
• External Ballistics/Factors
• Precision Shooting Positions
• Nigh Optics Utilization/Familiarization
• Known Distance Precision Shooting
• Multiple Target Engagements

• (2) Lunches, students will be afforded the opportunity to eat Breakfast and Dinner
• Water
• Any AR platform rifle or bolt action rifle, capable of holding 1 ½ minute groups at 500 Meters
• Rifle must be outfitted with magnified optic. Optics with mil or MOA reticles and the ability to compensate for windage/distance are needed to complete course of fires.
• Bipods recommended
• Sandsock, provided if needed
• (150) Rounds of match grade ammunition, 72 grns or higher strongly recommended

Endstate: Designated Marksman I is focused on individuals who desire to improve their abilities to maintain precise fire beyond the 100 yard zero. The course will reaffirm basic knowledge concerning internal/external ballistics and marksmanship fundamentals. Thus, ensuring everyone has the necessary knowledge to build a solid shooting position and the ability to determine shot placement based off of external factors. Knowing these subjects will enable shooters to achieve accurate and precise fires at different ranges.

In alliance with our beliefs, Max Ordinate training is held to a standard, not a timeline. Designated Marksman is held over a 2 day period and participants should plan on being at the range from 8:00 AM till dusk.

Also, students will be afforded the rare opportunity to conduct a night optic familiarization fire. Appropriate optics will be provided by the instructors for this portion.
