Looking for some ideas on unique matches or locations around the US. Been shooting in the local Wyoming and Colorado prs type matches for a few years. Also shot the steel safari, team safari, and a guardian match. Looking to try some new locations that offer a unique experience or venue.

So far on my list is K&M and Altus. What other suggestions do you guys have to add to my bucket list? Doesn’t need to be PRS type matches but want to focus on long range rifle.

Also not in my prime anymore so not looking for 100 mile death marches. Could be more intense than steel safari but not crazy.

Dmr resort... Beautiful venue that they are starting up matches at.

KRG Windbreaker is my favorite venue thus far.

Hornady PRC is also on my list of must attend matches from all the photos I’ve seen of it.

Pics from this years KRG.

Northern Nevada has several different types of LR matches....Elko and Reno NV have long range varmint match matches that are a blast to shoot as well as PRS and NRL22. Reno also has a short range tactical match that's geared more towards gas guns but if your fast running a bolt you can do well.

Ely NV has a match where you start with a 22lr at 100yds then switch to a 6 or 6.5mm out to 500yds I think then it's what ever you want past that out to 1000+ yards....this is kind of an odd match how its ran but fun and there's nice cash prizes...the last one I shot I think the high score took home $750 bucks.

That looks incredible! Is it a hiking/field type match like steel safari? I’m going to look it up tonight
KRG Windbreaker is a drive, or else it would take 4 days 😂

Snake River is all hiking. Lots of people got their asses kicked on the hiking if you're not in shape. The steep incline and decline if the whole match is fun.

not sure if you want just prs or are open to other stuff. check out nra world action shoot. used to be at peacemaker range in wv but was in indiana last year. three days and they have stages including uspsa, idpa, prs, 2/3 gun, trap/skeet, cowboy action etc. all guns and ammo are included so don't need to worry about schlepping guns & ammo and gear thru airports etc.

What kind of mileage and elevation gain for snake river?
Not more than 2? The elevation was the ass kicker for most. It's a couple hundred feet in a very short distance.
These look like incredible venues!
They are spectacular. Honestly, the pictures don't do it justice. It better IRL.

Hornady is one of the better run matches at a great facility. Idaho is great. K&M is an awesome flat range. Lots of props and well run. The grind is a unique match that all shooters should goto, either as a pro or am. The alpha nut crusher is a very cool match. But be prepared to, as the name suggests, get crushed. It’s not easy, even for seasoned shooters.

You’ll need to get in gear, but in your first list of destinations, the Accuracy International match at Altus is coming up on 5-6 April. It’s a heck of a match. If you go, make sure you get there on the 4th for train up day to get the feel of the place. It might be in the south, but its huge

Another Range, though private, is Arena Training Center in Southwest Georgia. It’s even bigger than Altus. They have a few open matches and the occasional Open Range day. As far as you would have to travel, it would be best to hit a match rather than try for a range day.
