So at SHOT Show I found this company off in the corner of the main hall. I saw the 3 Lug Actions and was super interested. 3 Lug Bolt, Short throw, nice looking 700 footprint, hmm... So they are doing barreled actions, as well as complete builds, but barreled actions in 2025 interest me.
I ordered up a 6.5 Creedmoor, they spun up a Schneider 5P, all the specs on the barrel, then waited on the weather.
As you can see, I dropped it in an AI ATX Chassis, this is the beauty of a barreled action buy, you can put it together or have them do it. With chassis, dropping an action in is a piece of cake. Once I dropped the barreled action into the ATX I zeroed it with some 143gr Norma.
Initial results were great, but I wanted to see which ammo she liked the best.
The Hornady 100gr VT is super interesting to us. The speed is next level, just shy of 3200fps, but in this rifle the downrange results were very good. Normally we see a terrible SD with a round going this fast, the DGW loved it in a lot of ways. The groups were very good, under 5/8ths of inch at 100, and the Speed was on point at 3180fps, however I one box was better than the rest so we went with that load.
This was the Norma 130gr Load which I believe is the best option for a 6.5CM. I think the 130 space is the right space unless you go lighter. The Heavies are good, we shot the heavies, but the heavies are in the air longer, you have to be on your game. Where I see the heavies shine is in really low SD numbers, like less than 5fps, then I see the heavies exceeding the lighter bullet performance.
as I move forward I will bring you the accuracy results and were we are with the DGW Rifle ...
