This is old news. I’m hearing rumors today that they’re shutting mystery ranch down.

I won’t even buy their coolerslol. I guess Dana cashed out again. I worked in the outdoor industry back in the day and had quite a few Dana Designs packs (still have a couple but can't say that I'd actually use them again, they are crazy heavy compared to todays packs (terraplane, Astralplane, Bomb, etc.). Met him a few times at the OR show and at our local outfitter when I was working there in college. Saw MR at the SHOT show a few years, always liked the packs but never got around to buying one.
I can say for sure though that I would never buy a Yeti backpack regardless of who made it or designed it.
Kifaru is and always always been based. No blue haired globohomo faggotry can be found anywhere on their website. One Chinese overpriced shit brand buys another overpriced Chinese shit brand ( with exception of berry amendment stuff).
Meanwhile kifaru, HPG, Stone Glacier and Exogear among others have similar prices for US designed and made gear.
Most eberlestock stuff is actually made in Vietnam except for the few berry compliant items they still have.I don’t care what yeti does with mystery ranch. MR gets what they deserve for selling out to those fags at yeti. My son owns an older mystery ranch and it’s a legit pack. They made some top notch fire line packs as well, but I won’t support them now. As kind of a pack junkie I highly suggest exo mountain gear. They are designed and made in Boise. I’ve owned a couple and they are amazing packs. The newest ones are supposedly even better, but I don’t have $700 to drop on ANOTHER pack. Eberlestock is decent too. Also made in Boise.
Yes that is true. At least being made in Vietnam is about 100 times better than “hecho in China”Most eberlestock stuff is actually made in Vietnam except for the few berry compliant items they still have.
Kifaru was also recently sold to a new owner.Small business founders often grow a innovative business then sell as an exit plan and begin another. Not a bad thing, it's how capitalism is supposed to work. Kifaru is mentioned as fantastic gear, which it is, but remember that Patrick Smith first started Mountainsmith. Those were good packs, then he sold to a big corporation that made cheap crap. He got rich, started Kifaru.

I'm not sure anything involving the Yeti corporation has a "best either way". They have been ardent corporate sponsors of child transsexuals and other woke philosophy.Well dang,
I for one appreciate this thread as were it not for the Hide, I would have missed this news. I suppose I'll withhold making any judgements though until we see how things play out. I'm hoping for the best either way.

I believe Aaron Snyder now works for Born PrimativeYes.
And Aaron Snyder had worked for Patrick and was heading things here in CO for years if I am not mistaken.
Used to see that guy at the gym. A beast.
And Patrick Smith is a super nice guy. Loves to talk guns and hunting.
Don’t laugh too hard, but I hunted elk one season with one of those. Thank God I didn’t shoot one, cause I don’t think the pack would have been much helpGerry Pack anyone?

That is the typical small business plan. Work hard, make it great, cash out. This seems to be the story with gear. Make a great product and develop a loyal clientele than sellout to a conglomerate with the quality going to shit. Can't count how many times I have seen this happen. Picked up a US made 2DA pack several years ago and a great pack and should last me for quite awhile.
the MR pack I've seen recently are all made in Vietnam too.Yes that is true. At least being made in Vietnam is about 100 times better than “hecho in China”
Only the Berry compliant military line packs have been made stateside for a few years now.the MR pack I've seen recently are all made in Vietnam too.
