Has anyone noticed any difference between the CCI200 and FGMM primers in a .308?

I use CCI200 right now. One of the local shops has FGMM in stock for reasonable prices. I am thinking of trying them to take another variable out of my FGMM clone loads.

Have any of you guys noticed a difference in POI or MV between the two?

Thanks

I thought the only difference between match primers and the standard, was they got "Looked" at twice. Besides the inspection process, there the same thing. I've had no issues with CCI200s, and use them in my GMM copycat load. 43gr Varget, 168 SMKs, FGMM brass, CCI200s, 2.805" COL, 2640fps from my Savage 10FP, with better groups! .500" for 5 shots@100

I have not tested this but others have reported up to a 100fps difference.

But I can say this, the Federal Large Rifle NON Match - out of 100 I had 3 not go bang...and 3 was more than I wanted to worry about - they were sloppy, some were dripping out, some barely had any coating in them.

I'm just finicky, but if the CCI200's are match grade I'll get em, think match grade generally refers to a better QA....

The CCI's are usually a little hotter than GM primers. Nothing wrong with either but you may need to adjust your load when switching between the two.

Shot 100 rounds loaded half FGMM and half CCI-200 this W/E, and there was NO noticeable difference between the eight ten-round scoring target dispersion patterns.

Re: Difference between CCI200 and FGMM LR primers?

I was just looking at some Federal Match in my flip tray a couple days ago. I was looking at the different amounts of compound in the cups. I pulled 3 with a very small amount of compound in them. (See metal in the bottom) I was not impressed with the variation in them. If they are visually inspected, these were not looked at very hard.
I have been using FGMM primers for years, however as I replace the ones on hand I am thinking more about CCI BR2 and Winchesters as a replacement.
Another issue is the Federal boxes. They take up triple the space of other primers on my shelf.

Have you tried testing them? Take the "bad" ones and load'em up. See if they shoot into the same group as the good ones.

That is VERY surprising! I just went through 1000 Fed 210 Non-match LR primers in my .308 over the course of about 3 months and not only did ALL go bang - but I probably shot about half of those 1K across a chrono and I have been getting consistant ES <20 and SD <10. I've found the Fed 210s to be VERY consistant and reliable.

I have 5K Wolf LR primers on the way - I'm hoping they will do as well for me.
