PRS Talk Difference between Club matches vs. PRS sanctioned

I have shot a few 1 day local club matches (60 shooters) that are very well organized. There's usually 10 stages, with about 100 round count, then prize table with just random draw for all the prizes on the table, which works for me because I finish mid-pack.

This year, there is a PRS sanctioned 2 day shoot nearby that I am really looking to enter into. I'm just wondering what/if any differences there will be between the two shoots? Just mostly regarding organization, extra rules, etc.

not much other than some better out of town competition, trophies, and usually top shooters get a prize walk...some places do top 10 and then random, others do 50...it varies range to range

some places will make the 2 day matches slightly harder, with tighter times and maybe smaller targets, but that varies range to range

just shot my first two day match two weekends ago. Pretty much the same routine as a 1 day. But there will some more really good shooters there. Which is a good thing - try to get in a squad with one of them and watch them closely and learn.

In THEORY - they should be tighter on the official PRS rules. (Enforcing no coaching the shooter, etc). However - I've already seen some of that fly out the window these past two 2-day matches.

Just to clarify - Hooked sent me a PM about a video from a stage at the Altus AI match this weekend where an RO informed a shooter they shot the wrong target. It doesn't sound like any kind of coaching was given, just the RO informing the shooter it was the wrong target so they didn't think they scored an impact.

There's enough drama, bullshit, and hearsay in the PRS as it is, no need to fuel more of it by letting people wonder WTF we were talking about, especially when it was something completely normal.

Any time. I have shot and RO'd a pretty healthy number of PRS matches the last few years, and every time I feel like I have seen it all, someone finds a new way to surprise me. Still, I'm always up for passing on knowledge.

At our club matches we have two minutes per stage, where as in the two day big boy matches I hear you have one minute thirty seconds.

Depends on the match. I've seen everything from 60 seconds to 2:15 for stages at 2-day matches.

Ya our club match had 90 second stages as well.
