Night Vision Difference of PVS-14's

I'm ready to order my first NVOD, i've tried to read alot of these threads and keep up with all the fun hobbies we men enjoy. But i am having a hard time choosing what to go with. I am wanting to know which PVS-14 is the best for my application. I am new to the NV game but want to be able to wear it helmet mounted to hike in the dark and also hunt dogs in the dark. i would like to have the option of weapon mounting(.223 and suppressed .300blkout). i have been really looking into the TNVC PVS-14 L3 gen3 Omni vIII(says its rated for a few heavier calibers. What are the differences in this one vs a similar pvs-14 thats only rated for .223? Just Light transmission(how much difference)? Any other suggestions?

I bought my 14 with the filmless RC tube in it from Pete at I2 Tech. Beautiful tube, rated up to 308 weapon mounted, and looks shit hot on those no moon no star nights. What's not to love?

Cannonman - If you want true versatility than the PVS-14RC is the way to go. Yes the L3 OMNI 8 is a nice upgrade from the ITT Pinnacle for a few extra calibers. Your ITT unit is strictly 5.56. If you have been reading the forums there are several things to look for on a data sheet.
Resolution, Signal to Noise Ratio, Image Clean (not on a data sheet but companies like MOD (us) and I2 Technologies (Pete) specify our units will be image clean).
Where in Utah are you at? We have a couple of dealers in the Salt Lake / Sandy area where you would be able to look at a PVS-14 in person. Seeing is believing!

I just bought one of them on Wednesday. Kind of confused though. I was quoted 2 weeks or less in the TNVC XMAS sale prices thread and the invoice I got yesterday said there is a 4 week lead time. It just might be a computerized response though. I have ordered other stuff from TNVC and they have excellent service and will continue to buy from them.

That is for ITT....Our Christmas special is the L3 Omni 8 which are 2 weeks when they went on sale 2 weeks ago. You are seeing ITT delays due to OUR CLEAN TUBE REQUIREMENTS.

I can tell you we have refused big batches of ITT tubes as of late not being too clean for our own liking and REFUSE to release these units to our valued customers. While we have some delays with some ITT tubes, WE WILL NOT COMPROMISE so our valued customers can get the best tubed best priced ITT TNV-14 on the market. We have sold an incredible amount of our TNV-14's for a reason and the demand is that high for these units. As stated we will not compromise nor sacrifice tube quality based on demand, thus the wait at times. Hope this helps and thank your for all your valued business.

Indeed the L3. Omni 8 TNV-14 has made many people happy at $2894.00 and they have waited to save hundreds (in fact sometimes saving $500+ on our units). Oh yea they even come with that metal lens locking ring, we install that for free as well.

Generally not as screen brightness is set to a certain light level per mil spec. Its funny when people tell me they can tell a tubes manufacturer and or an OMNI contract just buy looking at it. There are people who can but they usually have PHD at the beginning of their name and an entire career looking at Image Intensifiers under their belts. I worked on this stuff for 20 years in the Marines and I have put my eyeballs to literally THOUSANDS of tubes and on any given day, I only THINK I can tell but I wouldn't bet the farm on it. It all comes down to image quality on a specific tube. Buying night vision is like buying diamonds! It really is. I just try to buy D flawless for my customers.

I've been running a night enforcer that Vic hand selected for me for a while. I shot it on a heavy bolt .308 several times and it was a great unit. But from my latest expirience the L3 tubes are better. To me they are! Every single L3 I've looked at seems to be beautiful.
