Hey guys,

I'm planning on ditching the tupperware stock on my 93r17 FV heavy barrel with a Boyds rimfire hunter. I'll need a trigger guard and bottom metal plate.

DIP comes highly recommended but the Boyds bottom metal is half the price.

Is anyone here familiar with both and can weigh in?

Boyds is the same as the factory stuff - it works, it is "spec", but it is flimsy. Some folks feel the DIP is better since it won't flex when you torque the action bolts down. Savage though says 15 inch/lbs is spec for those bolts, and teh thin stuff has no issues at that level of torque.

Some people find better accuracy at different in/lbs, and the DIP stuff is just thicker and sturdier.

Just rather be safe than sorry I went ahead and ordered the DIP bottom metal for a wood stock. If I ever upgrade the stock from Boyds to a McMillan they will inlet an HTG for DIP metal and yeah, DIP does appear to be higher quality than Boyds.
