Any fellow disc golfers?

I've always enjoyed traditional golf but found it to be a little rich for my blood. Well a few years ago I was visiting a friend and he mentioned he and his father were going to play disc golf.

I was under the impression disc golf was a past time for hippies, much like hacky sack.

I've always had admiration and respect for these two gentlemen so I gave it a fair shot and have been hooked ever since.

There is a very nice course down here in the park in San Diego. Lot of fun. I have played it since it started back in the 80's if my memory serves me. Now of course you have every different type of Frisbee for each individual shot.

Re: Disc Golfers?

I play a bunch and have since college . A BUNCH of courses in the Raleigh area. Nothing like tossing a disc in a basket from way on out, kinda like LR shooting.

Re: Disc Golfers?

Yep! Got into it in college with a few friends. I'm not serious about it. It's a good way for me and a few guy's I work with to get outside throw a disk around and have a beer or two while doing it. I too used to golf (Ball and stick) but my focus is on shooting and my motor sports hobbies. The causal game of frolf is a nice way to do something outside for an hour or two during the week.

Re: Disc Golfers?

I have been playing for about 10 years. I have cut back a lot in the last few years, I guess kids and work will do that to ya. I do still enjoy a round now and again though. I just put my disc back in the car so I can play a few pickup rounds after work. Its very popular here in Maine!

Re: Disc Golfers?

I just started playing last year, and thought it was only for hippies too lol. Got to play two very nice courses in the Denver area last fall. Lost 2 disks last time I played and haven't gone back since haha

Re: Disc Golfers?

Ah, yes...; the Disc Golf course, yet another new way to waste a perfectly good rifle range...

But serially; I've seen examples in Florida, and I seems like something I'd like to try. My health puts restrictions on my ambulatory capacity, and that's something I need to stretch the envelope on. This could be a relatively painless answer; I'd just need the occasional park bench nearby along the way from time to time.
