Anybody who has both of these to play with can give me a verdict on GLASS ONLY?

I know the dials on the Athlon has got to be better than the DNT, but I'm only looking at the glass quality on this purchase.

I work hard for this money and it makes feel warm and fuzzy when I look through the eyepiece and see a picture that moves me to tears. Is the DNT close enough to the Athlon that I won't be able to tell a difference between them on mach 1 eyeball?

Thanks y'all.

edit to add: I'm specifically interested in glass quality comparison with both scopes set at ~25x mag.

I just come from outside comparing the two again as I have multiples of both the 7-35 Arken and DNT. They are a wash optically with both being better than your current scope. If you like .2 mil reticles then grab the DNT. If .5 mil reticles float your boat then stick with the Arken.

The turrets on my ep5 5-25 and 7-35 are pretty good. Not the best by any means. But they won’t make you miss a shot by skipping a click.

If the image through an Athlon scope brings you to tears, you should never look through anything that costs more than $1,500... 🤣

Don't have both of those, but I do have a DNT, and owned a bunch of Arkens... Won't buy another Arken, but I'd certainly buy another DNT.

They are night and friggin day. I had 2 EP5 5-25's and would never buy another after buying the DNT for the same price. As long as DNT keeps up the same QC as the first one I bought, then I think they might really have something that could truly change the game of budget scopes as we know it. Because it would force everyone else to compete, or fall back and lose sales.

As an arken owner, let me tell you about how great the EP5 is...

For real though, I love my Athlons so if the DNT is really a step up at a sub $750 budget then that would be a great option.
I have ended up with 2 Ares ETRs that do well, but in Canukistan, tax in, they run close to $2K. I’ve got farmer bro friends that could swing the cost of a DNT a lot easier if it was close to an Ares glass wise

The G2 Cronus is getting a bit dated, what's it been like 3 -4 years now??, so I'd think the DNT would be superior optically because I'm assuming that coatings and maybe glass making processes have been improved.

Heck I'd almost buy the DNT because I'd like to see what these are like, but the G2's works well and that I already have the expensive scopes on the rifles I use most.

Eh, I'll wait to see what else comes out at Shot first and go from there.

At $599.99 the DNT 7-35x56 has no competition
Except for the scope this one copies that also costs $600. 😂

I hope Arken or DNT (probably both) drop one with a lower top end mag and smaller objective that weighs 30oz for a more general use scope. I’d buy several. I have a few of these 7-35 Arken and DNT scopes but at over 40oz, they are pigs but do fall in line with other scopes in the class.

The DNT differences:
The reticles are slightly different, with the DNT 7-35x56 FFP Riflescope having the illumination through the whole Elevation and Windage cross portion of the reticle vs the Arken EP-5 7-35x56 which is illuminated in only the center.
The Japanese extra low dispersion glass in the DNT Riflescope is optically superior.
They've designed it with a 45-degree canted windage indicator so you can see where you're at without compromising your shooting position
Built in throw lever.

I got my answer from all the non-answers in the thread here. I guess somethings can’t be said out in the clear because of the money involved.

But yeah, I thought, and had hoped, that new manufacturing techniques in the last 6 years would have improved lower tier glass to the point of premium glass like Athlon’s ETR line.

The ETR is on sale for $750 right now, I’ll pay an extra $150 for Athlon’s glass over DNT, I guess.

The ETR 29x is on sale for $750 right now. I’ll pay the extra $150 over DNT for it. I was really hoping to get a bargain with the 35x DNT, but I guess money only goes so far, even in China.

Money involved? You got lots of answers but maybe not enough exact comparisons as the scopes are fairly new. It’s not some big conspiracy. Lol

I won't let go of my gen 1 chronus because it's still a great optic. Maybe if I upgraded everything else and needed the space in the safe. But I'd have to ditch at least 90% of my other scopes before it hit the chopping block.
