This 200yd 5 shot group was fired right after shooting a 800yd group. The 800yd group measured 3 inches my daughter was very happy, she ran the elevation down to the 200 yd zero and reset the parallax. She fired the first shot which is the one to the left and said the scope just went fuzzy. She moved the parallax knob again and said its clear now and fired the next 4 shots which measured .556. When she initially reset the the parallax she said it was right at the 100yd mark which she thought was weird. the last 4 shots it was a little past the 100yd mark. Is this her scope starting to go I did not have any rounds left or we would have gone back to 800yds. Scope is a IOR 6-24 SFP she really likes the scope it is the newer model with large exposed knobs. thanks for any help.

Re: Do I have a scope problem

Sounds fine. Probably just your ordinary flyer. Run some tracking tests at 100 yards, moving the adjustments as far as you can on your paper. Parallax turret markings are never accurate and change depending on the person and where you set your ocular adjustment to. If problems persist, make the company fix it. Your daughter is a great shooter, by the way!

Re: Do I have a scope problem

Thats what i was hoping(this rifle hasnt really had a flyer yet in 250rds) it never went blurry again after the first shot, she might have been sloppy checking the first time she is just 16. She shoots well(prone with bipod and homemade rear bag) rifle is very accurate i cant find a bad load(Savage target reciever, CBI 20inch 7mm saum barrel, shooting 168 smk or vld's)I am loading rounds right now to go back out and try it again.

Re: Do I have a scope problem

I never trust the yardage on the parallax turrets, simpler to stop wherever the sight picture is sharpest.
i hope it was just a fluke.
cheers.

Re: Do I have a scope problem

She swears everything was clear and locked down then blurry and not locked down anylonger after 1st shot. Will go out again and try from 800 and then back in.

Re: Do I have a scope problem

16 year old daughter running a 7 SAUM and shoothing like that...WOW!! Keep up the great work!

Think a quick 4 shot box test could prove useful. Or try the same 800yd group then drop back to a 200 yd group and see if it goes out of wack.

Re: Do I have a scope problem

Turret mount parallax? Usually you have to run one way or the other to take the lash out for recoil. The previous times she may have dialed too far down and had to go back up a little taking out the lash. This time she may not have.

I know many scopes say to start at infinity and roll down till it's clear. If you go too far you should restart at infinity and do it again.

Find out which way works for the scope and make sure to always repeat it.

Re: Do I have a scope problem

I have never heard of that, yes it is turret mount parallax. thanks for that info. She says she has just been going up and down as she shoots at different distances 100 to 800 yds. The scope movement itself has been great as far as elevation markings go.

Re: Do I have a scope problem

Just a update the parallax was messed up. it would not hold round to round put our hunting Vortex on it and groups went right back to normal. It would actually go blurry after some shots and you would have to move the parallax knob a little then right back to where it was and things would be clear again and would be locked down. Hopefully it wont be gone long for repairs really like the scope.
