Damn that really sucks, but I would also blame the shipper. Was it shipped with the scope mounted? I am assuming it was?

Oh 90% of the fault lies upon the shipper I hate to say. The gun had no padding what so ever, just a loose gun inside a cardboard box. Hopefully he had paid for the insurance... it's $600 CDN for a replacement from Hilux.

Contacted him and he opened up a dispute with Canada Post. But I don't expect anything to become out of that due to the lack of packing materials.
