Let me know what you figure out. I've been trying to CC my Rem 1187 police shotgun, but the pistol grip is a bitch on the old back when sitting

You must be new to CC.
You can do it, you'll need a coat. And after toting it around a few days, you'll see why nobody does it. Heavy, uncomfortable and 99.9% of carrying is just that --carrying. Hopefully you'll never need it. Even an HK SP89, which is a small PDW with no stock, isn't comfortable. It'd be worse than wearing a shoulder rig.
Ever use it in self defense, despite the caliber or weapon being an issue in legitimate self defense, the lawyers will still have a field day with you carrying an AR pistol. You better have some good reasons for carrying that daily that sound good to a jury.
If new to CC I'll save you a lot of time, grief, money and time: get a good stock pistol you like and can depend on, preferably a compact or subcompact. No aftermarket gimmicks or any of that shit, maybe a set of Trijicon night sights and factory extended controls if you like. I like Glock 26/27, a G19 would also hide and carry well, but it doesn't have to be a Glock. Get a Milt Sparks VM2 holster and their belt and call it a day. Maybe the dual mag carrier to offset weight and give you some extra rounds, maybe a backup like a scandium .357 like I carry. That's comfortable, been carrying those for over a decade. Key word here is "carrying" and both are reliable, they always go bang.
I have a G29 and 1006 with VM2's also, and I seldom to never carry them because they weigh more and are less comfortable than the G27 and the G27 seems sufficient to me at self defense ranges. Weight and width are more important than length of barrel too. A shorter grip does help, but a longer barrel conceals just as well as a shorter one (to a point) in the IWB VM2 holster. Holster and belt are more important than pistol IMO, provided you have a good pistol you can rely on.
And I'm almost certain I could put my G27 into action and get rounds off way before you could with an AR pistol. It's also more reliable too, which is key with CC.
If you are thinking of defense against what happened in Vegas, forget about it. Without a good scoped rifle that guy was out of reach. You can open carry rifles here, but nobody does it short of a protest or whatever. It's just not necessary. Yet anyway. An SBR'd truck rifle or a plain M4 locked up in the truck or car may not be a bad idea though, I don't know. Never needed it, but I feel better knowing it's back there when I do have one in the truck, FWIW. In what situation I'd need that, I have no idea, if I make it back to the truck I'm probably gonna leave the danger, not stick around. So it's probably all in the head or just a security blanket.

There are states do not allow for a rifle to be carried in the vehicle. Some of these states do allow for a loaded pistol to be concealed in that vehicle by a handgun carry permit holder. A AR pistol, perhaps with a "arm brace", fills this niche perfectly. Belt carry seems a little impractical.
We had these in SF. H&K MP5K. Just put your AR in a small backpack.

One quick example to answer the above question. Florida does not allow concealed carry of loaded long guns, i.e. a loaded rifle under truck seat accessible to the driver. However, the state does allow a handgun to be carried in that manner. Tennessee recently added loaded long guns to the carry permit, but a rifle caliber "handgun" was the truck solution before then.
In Florida there are two legal phrases that control legal ways of transporting a firearm in a private conveyance, e.g. vehicle and the phrases are
not mutually exclusive.
1. "Securely encased"
2. "Not readily accessible for immediate use"
Long guns generally will fall under the "not readily accessible for immediate use".
Florida law allows for not only having a Concealed loaded long firearm but also an Unconcealed loaded firearm as long as it met the spirit of not being used with illegal intent, i.e. in the commission of a crime.

Carrying an AR pistol as your primary carry piece would be pretty silly IMO and would get old really quick.
With that said I do often have one in my vehicle just because. VA doesn’t allow you to have a loaded “rifle” and even loaded mags nearby is a grey area so the pistol is a way around it all. I can also transport a suppressor at the same time, but you can’t carry a pistol with a suppressor attached in VA. I’ve also carried it in a backpack or computer bag a few times because I was either in an area where I didn’t want to leave it in the vehicle or there was just a heightened chance of running into shitheads and I could.
I personally like 300BLK for this purpose plus it just runs well in a pistol. My main 300BLK is setup with a 8” barrel and a Law Tactical folder with KAK brace and tube. It folds up real nice easily fitting in any ordinary backpack or a computer/courier bag which IMO is more discreet than a backpack these days.
I also have another 300BLK pistol that’s got the Law folder and also has the Pantheon Arms DOLOS system. I don’t use it much because I just don’t like the forend it uses and the system has to be assembled to use (although it is quick). That setup breaks down insanely small, I can fit it along with 3 30rd mags and suppressor in the small Armageddon Gear zipper bag which is smaller than most women’s purses.
Not sure when/how you’re intending on carrying one but hopefully this helps.

Great info everybody I not building the at pistol with intentions on carrying it. But I am open to any ideas. It's winter and the world is getting crazy so I was just throught I'd throw tne idea out there to see what everyone thought. The folder with kak brace and backpack. Is a great idea

I have an 8" 300blk SBR with a LAW Tactical side folder on the stock. It can very easily be folded down to fit inside of a normal backpack or anything that's big enough to carry a laptop. It also fits in a Pelican computer case. I often "concealed carry" this when traveling.... as long as I don't have to leave it unattended.
And yes.... I did accidentally put the back iron sight on backwards due to my own ignorance. Rifle now wears an Aimpoint H1

Those were badass. Wasn't there a suppressed model? I know that case is itself a NFA item, an AOW I think.
You can open carry rifles in WA, I reckon it'd get a lot of calls though as nobody does that. People do open carry pistols though. I thought and think about putting rifles in my truck and my wife's car, just in case, but I figure by the time we get to the vehicle we're just gonna go anyway. If our pistols and feet can get us to the vehicle, why stick around to unload rifles?
I think one fellow on is on to something though... BE Meyers restricts green glare lasers but if cops around large events were issued them, they could seriously cut down on the damage done by a shooter in a high position. And given all the lasers used in Vegas, anyone could have aimed one at that room and done the job too... Nobody thought to do that though.
I'm not aware of a suppressor for the MP5K, although I'm sure they were around. Had a lot of a lot of MP5SD's. When I went through the Q course the MP5K was one of of the weapons we were tested on. Imagine a one hour block of instruction on this pistol and then immediately being given a timed test on assembly/disassembly of this bizarre delayed blow back roller locked spectacle of German over-engineering. I used to sell guns at a gander mountain part time and one of the regulars, a big guy about 6'5 and 260lbs, was pretty serious about putting a single point sling on a cz scorpion pistol and carrying it under a big carhatt jacket. I'm from Wisconsin, so he's probably got four or five months out of the year where it's feasible. He said he planned on running a 15 round mag in the gun and having a backup 30 on his belt, but I don't know what ever came of it. That might be as big of a gun as someone could ever carry on their body with some degree of comfort.

1. Carrying an AR on your person in polite company is uncomfortable, socially unwise, and sometimes illegal.
2. A concealed AR is very hard to get into action. You have to unzip, unfold, uncase, uneverything it.
and on the other hand:
3. Once you DO have that thing in play, a rifle kicks a pistols ass in almost every way. 30 rounds ( or more ), easy to get on target, more range, better sighting system...etc. etc. etc...
and then:
4. After the shoot you might get to go for a ride in court that you wouldn't have had to take if you had shot them with a pistol.
I don't carry an AR on my person even though I am huge and live in a wintery sort of place. I do carry one in the car because not all situations are morally compatible with just running away the second you have the ability to do so.

The OP is talking about a pistol classified AR. It would be hard to explain yourself to an uneducated person. Legally it's classified a pistol, but to the general public, it looks like a scary rifle. I have thought about getting an MCX pistol for backpack carry.
The whole 4" (or even the 8") barrel PCC for backpack carry doesn't make sense to me. I'd rather rock a hand gun. It's still a 4" barrel, whether it's a MPX, MP5K, or Glock 19. I can have one hand free to do whatever and one hand that can engage. But that's just me, I wasn't allowed into the military and have 0 threat engagement training.

Good travel truck gun. My 8” .300aac rides in a small soft sided viola case. Easy in and out of truck into hotels, etc. IMHO better than any handgun when on the road out in the boonies. Carry it physically ON me? Good grief. No way.
I dont have an AR pistol yet, they would be a great truck gun but way too big and heavy for CC. Idk who in their right mind would want to lug one around all day.

il get some pics! That collapses to 23” exactly. So it’s a snug fit, but works in the gamut plus. I also carry an IFAK and a miscellaneous pouch in that pack. And if wanted can fit a plate carrier. It gets to be about 30lbs give or take with everything, but the bag carries comfortably.
I would assume you mean something like bag too but you will need either a law folder or consider an ak pistol with folding brace. I would not normally as pistol is usually enough for me but have carried in discrete backpack as I have had to evacuate several times for storms etc and just wanted something available with rifle power but could be easily out of sight. For most reasonable sized backpacks figure under 22” length I am using standard backpacking packs though not specialized ones.
