Does anyone here use a stock 10-22?

Probably most on this sight either have a 10/22 or used to have a 10/22. Do I shoot one? Yes of course. Do I do anything other than blast ammo and cans with it? No.

They are not a super accurate platform compared to the other bolt gun offerings.

Frank Green did a group buy on 10-22 barrels a few years ago.

I'm not gonna say how mine shoots, because I don't want ya'll to think I'm a liar.
I've got some sort of carbon wrapped barrel from like 10 years ago on mine, don't even remember who makes it. With that and a Troy AR type chassis mine shoots incredibly well. Well enough that it wouldn't keep me from winning a match.

As I read threads about how people are trying to get their $$$ bolt guns to feed right or talking about pre fit barrels etc I think to myself: my 10/22 doesn't have any of those issues lol.

Fairly stock. Just a couple of little bits: Extended butt pad and a Volquartson hold open. Oh, and a Parker Hale suppressor and a torch for spotlighting pests. Purchased new in 1987-88. 4x Tasco world class scope:

Yeah. I shoot pop cans at 710 yards with mine. Cheap bulk ammo and the iron sites off the hood of an old Chevy, hit that thing all the time, no biggie…
Do you have to do your part or is the magic of the 10-22 that it will do your part for you.

Mine is a 1984 or so model. First firearm ever owned.

When I look at modern ones it’s 10 times the rifle in my opinion. Actually made of something designed as an “alloy” not a plastic.

Shocked to find out the folding stock I bought at that time is worth twice what the rifle is worth.

It’s a really neat folder. Solid walnut furniture nicer than the wood on the rifle and it has a three leg folder based on the MP-38 design.

This description needs a picture, not my rifle online search….
