I recently picked up 1000 7mm 160TMK’s, and it seems like these should have been marked as seconds at the very least. The tips look like shit where they meet the jacket. Has anyone seen this before?

I wouldn’t buy those as seconds

And while Hornady isn’t top shelf, I’ve shot a lot of ELD-M & X and have never seen crap like that.

Update time, Sierra is going to be sending a complete replacement for the entire lot (I bought 2 500ct boxes that are bad, they’re sending 2 new 500ct boxes). Also said to keep what I already have for barrel break in, foulers, sort out the good ones, etc., they don’t need them back. Pretty excellent customers service in my opinion.

That's pretty good but Hornady includes extra tips so you don't even have to call customer service.

Don't they just melt off anyway? Would think the velocity and wind resistance would just eat those cheap stumps alive. I never shoot tipped bullets. Only hollow pts.

There was a time when the melting point of some of the polymers being used was too low, but once it was discovered most companies changed to higher temp plastic to preserve the BC. YMMV
