I have tried numerous loads on my new 5r and I think I have finally settled on a couple. I measured the throat and it is way long, like almost .120 jump to the lands from a 2.80 175 SMK. I tried numerous loads in 168 and 175 with both Varget and H4895. So far the best I have found(less than 1/2 MOA at 100 yards, sometimes one ragged cloverleaf) seems to be 42.5 grs of H4895 and the same varget with a 175 and the only decent load I have found in the 168s is 39.5 grs of H4895. I have cheated just a tad on the length and loaded them 2.810 and they still fit the magazine. According to the manuals, this load is light and should be aroun 44 or 45 grs. What velocity do you think I will see from this load, I have no chrono yet. SHould I go ahead and spend the money and have the barrel turned to shorten the throat or just go with what I have?
