Gunsmithing Does your live center get hot?

I am wondering if it is common for a live center to get hot, or if I need to get a new one. When I am turning at 1800, I can only get a couple passes before the live center gets warm. I can touch it, but it is definately getting hot. I don't want to heat it up too much, so I have only been taking a couple passes at a time, then letting it cool down, so it won't affect anything negatively. Just wondering if this is common, or if I am running it too fast, or if it is just worn out.

Thanks!

Dave

Dont think any are rebuildable but some have a cap on the back you can unscrew for regreasing.

I run them 3800 RPM all day long and they get warm but not Hot. Usally you will start seeing some inconsistency in your parts. I replace it or see if the manufacture can rebuild it. I know royal has rebuilt a few of mine in the past.
