im starting to look at national match shooting. i want to buy the DPMS upper but i have a couple questions first. is the front sight windage adjustable? would it be cheaper to just build one up from the upper i have now? creedmoor has sights i can get for about a total of 180ish and the DCM legal float tube is 75 but ild have to get all the tools which is about another 100. not to worried about the barrel for now. i figure it wont make much of a difference til i get more serious about the sport. the total for the DPMS upper is right around 600

no.

no.

Welcome to the sport - a great place to hang out, read the FAQs, and meet others in it in your area is the forums at usrifleteams.com

The biggest issue with the DPMS route is the parts you end up with are not that good of quality. The float tube and rear sight are some of the cheapest quality available.

Do yourself a favor - save another $85 up and get a White Oak Armament upper right out of the gate and you'll be miles ahead in the short run and long run. Picking up a used DPMS upper to use while your WOA is being built is not a bad idea, but try to get into it for about $400 and pass it along to the next guy getting started once your WOA arrives.
