Well I have had my DPMS LR308 for a week now and have taken it out to the range twice. I like the rifle BUT I have an issue with it.
On only the 3rd and 2nd to last round in the mags when the bolt goes to cycle it skips over the head of the round, starts feeding the round by grabbing the body of the case, and then the bolt jams halfway into battery with the bolt being stopped by the bullet half way inserted into the chamber. The brass is severly dented by this force.
I have looked all over the internet and there seems to be an ongoing issue with possibly a bad batch of magazines. I called DPMS and they said it's probably the mags and to send them in for replacement.
I went out an purchased another new DPMS mag locally thinking it may have come from another lot and it still does the same thing.
When firing #1 through round #16 it functions flawlessly.
Questions:
Has anyone else here had this issue?
Do you think it could be anything else besides the mags?
Anyone have a mag fix other than the obvious to send them back or try another mag brand? (I have 2 C Products mags comming.)
Thanks.
