I used a can of Birchwood Casey Moly lube dry lube on my 10/22, and it took the bluing right off the barrel! It says nothing about that on the can, and people have nothing but good to say about that stuff. Has anyone else ever had this problem? I'm positive it was moly lube, it was not any kind of bluing remover.

Moly dry film can become acidic when it absorbs moisture and corrode/remove your bluing:

Does not appear to be an issue with stainless steel.

If you want a spray moly, go to your Big Green Machine dealer...John Deere. They have a relatively inexpensive spray moly that works well. But...why did you put it on the OUTSIDE of the barrel? Use in the innards...Oil or Grease on the outside. JMHO

If it does that to the outside that you can see, wonder what it's doing to the inside that you can't see.
